What does your Workshop/Workspace look like?

I work out of my basement. It is humble, but it is mine. I am trying to become a viable propmaker for the costuming community in the future, and I am curious about what other peoples workshops/workspaces look like. I can often get some good ideas by seeing how others organize their hobby/work...
I built my work table from 2x4's and 2x10 boards.I am still working out the best layout for things as I go.
So, let's see yours!

This is the corner of my garage that i have carved out for my prop making. I built my work benches out of 4x4 leg posts and 2x4 cross supports and MDF tops. I like the MDF for the tops because when it gets paint on it or scratched up i just sand it down a little. I also moved in an old chair, couch and TV so its also doubles as my man cave. I have to say nothing helps past the time when you have hours and hours of sanding to do then to watch the movie or show that you are making the prop from.

Nice set ups. I like the TV idea, i may have to adopt that. Right now I just listen to sports radio or music. I can't wait to see some more of these!

LOVE these threads.

Unfortunately (and fortunately) I end up using my shop at work for everything. Lots of space and tools at my disposal but it also means that the only time I ever get is on lunch hours or other down time

Looks good in lights!!!

I think after the Holidays I'm gonna move all my hobby stuff back down to my shop.
Right now I have an area in my office and in the shop I can have more room and have several projects actually getting closer to completion. When I get tired of working on something right now I have to box it up, put it away and then start something else. This way in the shop I can have 3-4 areas with projects going without having to go to all that trouble!!

Thanks for agreeing!!!

Love you guys!!!

Kenny

So, let's see yours!

Same deal here, EB. The wife was willing to let me use the workbench that had already been there from the previous owner when the house was bought (and was something she never really used herself, anyway). Here are a few pics:

Full Workspace
Workbench # 01 (Original)
Workbench # 02 (Add-on)

It's quite a mess at the moment, I know, lol.

I based the design of the larger segment I built on the one that was already there, as I found it was a very sound, sturdy build. Not only that, but by emulating the original workbench, my addition doesn't look out of place or anything. Comprised mostly of 2x4's with a few 2x6's (or 2x8's?), if I recall correctly.

I even went so far as to design an overhang on the one end to accommodate my five-drawer storage unit for holding all my prop supplies (ie. sand paper, scrap materials, spray paint cans). I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I definitely like being able to do a wider variety of work in my own little "man cave". Now I just need to actually find the time for that, lol.

And here's the other part of my workshop:

Extra workspace

I decided to buy a cheap plastic DIY shelf from Wal-Mart so I could bring down any pieces I wanted to work on in the near future.

The "extra workspace" is meant for doing spray painting indoors (I open it up to place the item inside for painting, then close it up when done so any airborne paint doesn't get everywhere) and right now also serves as my molding/casting station.

Still got to get all the parts for my Dermal Regenerator kit done up though, lol.

As is fairly evident in all the pics, I've got way too many projects on the go at once. Really got to dig in and get those PADDs, Wah Chang Concept Tricorder, TOS Phasers and studio-scale TOS Shuttlecraft finished once I've taken care of the TOS-era Constellation Class Starship (almost done).

I try to take photos of my house yearly, and the studio gets documented well. It's also getting overhauled over the holiday as usual (I just got a Herman Miller Aeron chair!), but it looked like this a year ago.

Since this photo was taken, I've added a laser cutter and larger spray booth:

WOW I jealous lol. I work out of a closet in a spare bedroom. The rest of the room is full of my 700+ transformer collection lol. I can barely turn the gun display when I need to work on the other side lol. I wish I had those setups. I guess theres nowhere but up from mine lol.

I've always been jealous of anyone that has a dedicated space for their hobby - and decided to do something about it last summer.

No room in the house, so I started to build myself a little place:

It's been the wettest year on record, but somehow I've got it done.

Started to build three short benches that I can reconfigure as needed - given that the space is pretty tight.

..and started to populate the place with my own brand of strangeness.

I have an airbrush and compressor, a dremel and a few smaller tools. I'm saving for a table-top disc grinder, a pillar drill/milling machine, a small metalworking lathe and a host of other stuff.

Hopefully this year will see this workshop pretty much kitted out. I plan to do mostly tabletop metalworking, soldering, brazing, and maybe some small scale sculpey/casting work.
