Any one know where I can get plans for the Diving Bell from Warlords Of Atlantis or aka Warlords of the Deep (1978) or some pics

Ahhhh! I remember the publicity stills for that film.
Never seen it, but now that you bring it up, I think I would like to.
I have a copy of "the Land That Time Forgot" and really enjoyed that.
I also have a copy of "At the Earth's Core", while the poster is fantastic, the actual film was dissapointing, good ideas, rubber monsters were too obvious...and the wings of the bat creatures needed to be bigger.

I just figured out that "Warlords of Atlantis" is from the same series.
Have you seen it? Is it any good? are the monsters animated or people in suits. I might like to get hold of a copy.

Just in case anyone is gong to rush out and get these, we are talking "B movie good" here.

I've just got back from a 250 miles round trip to see the actual diving bell prop used in the film after finding it for sale on the bay, :0
Got loads of reference pics so I'll be starting this project very soon.

You can just about see the rivets I added around the viewport.

After taking a mold of the window with silicone here's the first resin copy out.
Now just got to make two more.
The main window is proving a bit more of a challenge to sculpt.

This build has really slowed down because the main window isn't circular like the others but a very slight oval and it's proving hard to get right.
Anyway I've cast the other three view ports so they are ready to go on.
I cant remember if I mentioned the size of this so here's a picture just so you get a idea of how big it is.

Finally finished the main window after hours of reshaping and checking and reshaping, but i think its close enough to stop now. Just got to make a mold so i can get a resin copy.

I've finished the floodlight now and was pleasantly surprised to see the first casting (I need four) come out looking like this with all the bars intact. I gave it a blast of primer.

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting resin casts coming out like this ?

You have air bubble marks in your mould looking at that, did you degas and pour from one spot or just pour all over without degassing.

If you haven't got to do many I would just clean it up, but if you need quite a few, then remould it to save time.

I poured from one place slowly from a height thinking that was the right way to do it but I didn't degass because I haven't got a vacuum thing.
This is the part of scratchbuilding I hate and would rather pay someone else to do it for me. It's good news Don that someone else other than me has seen this film

Hi m8

Is that the hook off the top or the handrail around the side? I was just going to say if it's the handrail, then personnel I would make up one complete handrail, then cast it straight, as if you heat PU resin in the oven or boiling water it then becomes flexible and you can bend it around the shape of the sphere perfectly.

As for this film I love old sci fi films as while the effects were a bit dodgy at least most have a proper storyline with actors that can act oppose to just grin like most do nowadays.

I think this is overall a tough subject to model and that you have done a fine job.. I can't wait to see this when it is complete.
