Jan 18, 2010 - Tri-Motor from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom #1

I was browsing at the hobby shop one day and saw this 1:72 Ford Tri-Motor for around $10.00. I just couldn't resist the urge to make the Lao Che Air Freight Tri-Motor from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.
It is a basic kit, nothing fancy. The windows didn't fit very well. I didn't spend a lot of time on it. I was going to make the Lao Che decals for the door but I never got around to it. I did add the window curtains inside the plane.
    Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. Like I said originaly I did not spend much time on it, I did use the "From Star Wars to Indian Jones" book as reference. The studio model had alot of weathering on it, almost "over the top" so I kind of went that way. I would like to have a little dio with the Hangar and picket fence seen in the movie. Maybe one day....I have too many dio's going at once as it is. LOL

Nicely done! The weathering and your attention to detail make it look larger than 1/72.

    Neat little project!

I think I had a copy of this kit as a kid, before the movie came out. Always thought of doing something like this!

    Well done!

This build has inspired me to build one of my own, may I ask what red/terracotta paint you used on it? I plan on using Testors Ford engine red, it seems to match up to the studio model pretty well.

    Ha, nice.
    That looks real.

Thanks for putting up the pics, very interesting to look at.

Check out the report in the local paper at the time. No idea what cover story the crew told the press. Is that Stevie and George in costume there?

Thanks everyone. I love the display idea with the map. I am thinking a wall hanging shadow box might work well with this idea.
