    Aug 2, 2010 - TOS Bridge: AMT Model Re-build #1

I wanted to add a new thread for my AMT bridge re-build. Thought I had one, but I guess it must have been in an alternate world.

nice job so far...do you intend to cover it with a domed ceiling? If so, let me know what size you get as I'd like to get one for mine -- you can check out my bridge model here:

I do want to dome cover it, as well as build a back lit box around it. I have a template created for the cove lights over the stations and will use that to create a finished ceiling. That will receive a dome ceiling. Believe it or not, I have saved a few plastic covers that pies and cakes come in from Costco. Those might have the right diameter once the ceiling is in place. I'll do a measure today and post the numbers..

Love your pics. And I've got the same prob with my close-up vision not being what it used to be. lol!

I managed to get the overhead displays cut out and have some custom images tacked up for 'trials'. I took long exposure shots at bench level with the clear dome on. You can see the reflections of the panels up above. The only light is the backlighting behind the stations.

took some better lighting shots this evening. Using small form photography soft light modules. The ceiling is a combination of a cardboard rectangle with the center cut out and a clear plastic pie cover mounted in center. I may end up using something else for the final enclosure, but this gives me a good template.

The fourth shot is the mini viewer and computer module for the Science (Spock) station

I have finished building the light box surrounding the bridge and foil lined al the sides. To help reflect the light, I also put in a 45 degree reflector on each back corner and foil covered those. The entire kit can now be nicely back-lit with two compact LED flashlights. I'll snap pics tonite and upload. Might be a good template for others to use who want to enclose the same kit.
