Re: Space 1999 Eagle Transporter Build Club UPDATED Sept 23rd (PIC HEAVY!)
Then again, your inspiration of the photo sparked the thought in me in the first place, so it might be more accurate to say that I'm merely reflecting the image of the great mind upon which I gaze!:cool

Now as for that glue thing, isn't stronger glue just gonna lead to stronger plastics? Then again stronger glues? It's gonna get to be an adhesive arms race!:eek
We've been off the air for a while.....they'll come back. Remember the old quote: "If you build it, they will come!"
I've been off for a bit, had a bad month plus a prescription error really messed with me. But I'm back up for a bit, need to talk to the Dr again about my meds.
Sorry to hear that, mate but glad to see you are back on your feet. As always, it's good to have you around.
I did manage to do a little today inbetween all the running around:-/
I have finally sourced the material with which I will be constructing the fore and aft walkways. It is a 3mm (1/8 inch) thick fibreboard that is used on the back of flat packed wardrobes and for the bottoms of drawers in kitchens etc...when it is cut into small squares/rectangles for a project like this, it becomes immensely strong. I shall be gluing each walkway floor and wall panel to each other AND to the cage itself, which will probably make the cages strong enough to take my weight. The advantage is that they will still be incredibly light.
So, firstly, I had to sand/prepare the cage for spraying and then, I applied 5 solid coats, before again wet sanding to remove any dust or grit from the finish.
I will, of course, be adding more coats, but this was to ensure good coverage in areas that will be difficult to paint later after installation of the walkway walls and the cage shelves.
Talking of which, I started the first shelf today and have commenced the construction of the greeblies to fix to it. I cannot kit bash due to my budget and my chosen scale so, everything has to be made from other things. Long and painful process, this, as each separate part has to be completely built from scratch. Anyway, here are a few pictures of today's work; two without a flash and two with. I hope you like how it is shaping up
As always, thank you for looking in and all comments are welcome!
Regards,
Darren
