Scratch-build Puddlejumper (Stargate)

Hey everyone!

While I've been a member here since 2011, I've rarely frequented the boards as time and my memory both failed me! In any case, I have started on a Puddlejumper from SG1/SGA. This will be my first scratch build of a ship, and my 2nd scratch build of anything.

Not much done yet, and being an interstate truck driver, I don't get a lot of time to work on things like this, but I am determined to finish it! (I'd add it into the 2014 contest but I KNOW I'll never get it finished in time, as I'm only home 2-3 days a fortnight...)

I also started tinkering with my chinese-built laser cutter. For some reason I can't get it to burn anything, so I'm converting it into a small CNC cutting machine.

At a guess approx 1:40 scale... That's assuming the stargate is 20 feet across and the pvc pipe im using is approx 0.5 feet (unless my math is terrible :D)
 
Small update...

Started on making the details for the sides. Had the cnc engrave the lines onto some plastic which I then cut out and heated to form to the main body.

Ok, update post, as promised!

Now I have my shiny new laser cutter, I've been going crazy on the acrylic... Like seriously crazy!

Cut all the side detail pieces, the top pieces and the first part of the front. Painted silver to help them stand out a bit, as the clear acrylic made it a bit hard to make thing out. As always, any feedback or ideas are welcome!

Have a few issues to work out, like how to stop the pieces warping as I soften them for shaping, and a few minor detail changes. Still plenty to do, but I'm happy with the progress so far!
