I completely agree man. Even the books SAG and chronicles measurements are a bit iffy in places. Some people get their ideas of scale from illustrated books (think dk) and figure well if the book says that it's 2 miles long then my model must be 1/????. Then there's finemolds wh just seem to pull scale out of their arse. My pic above was just aimed at Martyn smart arse Griffo, nwerke.

Every period article I've read says the models were 1/16 scale.

The 1/24 scale in Ss builds come from the scAle of the pilot. The pilots used in the studio models were from a 1/24 harrier model. Well the body at least.

I'm confused. Are we saying the MPC kit is 1/29.8 or not? Come on guys, get your act together! And what about the AMT kit? One has raised panel lines and the other has sunken ones so I think you will find they come from two distinctly separate moulds. Are the scales both 1/40.978844444312 or not? Let's get this straight!

And what about the important and influential Meccano kit?

OK, OK, I'll stop being a smartarse git. (Cue Simon saying "that's not possible".) Chronicles figures are sadly often rubbish and the FM scales may be a result of license terms - LucasFilm style guides and databases are known to be riddled with inaccurate "official" figures and sometimes these are picked up by licensees, or is it that they're enforced? Anyway, just going with studio scale and derivations from that is the best plan IMNSHO. I say this because it *isn't* just the figures in the SS models that are an issue. The set was huge, too!

This kit looks decent. How does it compare against the double-kit?

Okay I give up... what are the BCI ties? Are they garage kits?

Also, with the Revell snap ties, what about the wing shape proportions? Are they closer to the Finemolds or like the wretched-and-completely-wrong small AMT-ERTL pairs that were a waste of time?
