Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

Anyone heard news of the 1/12 scale Blade Runner Spinner kit that Randy is working on? I peaked on his web page and there have been some advancements in the kit,but I was wodering if anyone else had heard any other or NEW information regarding the Spinner? I'm saving $ for one,I only fear what the $$$ might be(but worth every penny)

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

I'm hoping the price will hover(pardon the pun) in the $300-$400 range, but that may just be wishful thinking.I'd like to know if it is coming with a "light kit" for the cock pit and the outside flashers/light bar. That's what I'd like to know. What's his facebook page by the way?

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

Just do a search for his name on Facebook, he's the only one with "MINIATURE BUILDER / PROTOTYPE WORK / CONCEPTUAL DESIGN" listed on his page...

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

I saw the shots of it in progress and I think he's aiming for a price of $450-$475 range. I know it sounds steep but this is a Randy Cooper kit probably one of the most accurate kits of a spinner being made next to the studio model . I would buy one in a heartbeat but I'm in between work, (un-employed) in other words Lol.

All I know is I want one.I feel your pain, but I'm close to snagging a better paying job instead of scraping by.I hope it comes with a lighting kit.

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

Since Randy's got plans and given his skills, this will be a great model.

I think it unlikely that Randy will supply a lighting kit, since in the past he has left that to other specialists ( Voodoo do lights for some of his other kits I think.)

Certainly both the blockade runner and sand crawler kits are made so as to make lighting fairly straightforward.

I tried a search on facebook and came up short. Could someone post a direct link to this particular "Randy Cooper"?

Thanks.

Hey Randy, I noticed on your Facebook that you're in Tampa; I live in North Tampa, myself. Are you going to MetroCon at the Tampa Convention Center by any chance? I'm going to dress up as Deckard while I'm there, lol.

Okay, back on topic. I would LOVE to have one of these Spinners, but I know I just can't afford it. :\

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

Thanks for the link Andy. That looks incredible.

VOODOO FX, lights for this kit are the worst news I've heard in some time. Going to have to get a set and do this model right! You do awesome work.

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

I saw this in person at Wonderfest. (He brought the pattern to display with the other Studio Scale models.) Yes it looks great. Yes he is still working on it. I gave him some plans (blueprints off of the original) and others have given him a stack of photos. There were differences between the full size prop, the 44" model and 15" model. At some point an artistic decision will have to be made, but I trust Randy completely with that. Go here - Randy Cooper Models

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

Guys... in case you don't know voodoofx is not the same Randy as Randy Cooper...
Voodoo Fx is a different person with the same first name. Voodoo makes lighting kits and very good ones.

Randy Cooper makes model kits.

Re: Randy Cooper's 1/12 Spinner

Got my Spinner from Randy. It's fantastic, well cast, great detail and clever construction. It's a bargain.. if you're wondering if you should buy it, just buy it. Sell the cat, forget the groceries.

Clean up is minimal, good solid resin and plenty of it !

Wheels can be moved from up to down, doors can be made to open and full lighting is possible with Voodoo x lighting kit.

I'm going to build mine in flight mode, so will probably fix wheels up and doors closed.

Transluscent parts for lights and dashboard, coloured lenses and domes, Randy's really gone to town on this...

Lighting will require planning with your brain in gear and plenty of testing - the roof lights are barely big
enough to hold the led - but there's nothing beyond care required and some trial soldering to get those joints small and neat.
