If you include the extremely short period of time for something of this magnitude.........it really is overwhelming to me. I cannot wait to pose this baby in my museum.

Randy said he expects to begin the primary molding very soon.

Nice, just judging from this latest batch of photos, he can't be too far from moulding!

    Yep, new pics are up!
    This baby is gonna ROCK!

BTW, On Randys blog, he states that the price is going to increase because of molding cost.
After much deliberation, we have decided to go with a less costly method of casting the main body.
The price for pre-order customers should NOT be affected.
(The blog statement was a bit misleading in that regard)
However, I would not be surprised at a price increase on "regular" kit sales.

It turned out that roto-casting was way too expensive and it also made the kit impossible to ship for a "reasonable" amount.

He is ,as I type, cutting apart the main body into individual sections for standard pressure casting. This may make it easier to light too.
He is also working out an internal armature arrangement.

He should begin molding in a week.
I would think that finished kits will be available in time for X-Mas (or sooner).

    I for one, cant wait.

Now that is beginning to sound like a good thing. The internal armature and pressure cast sections would be much better than trying to ship something that size in one piece. Christmas or sooner sounds Fantastic!!!!

I am so glad I pre-ordered one of these... I just wrote the following to Randy, I hope he considers it...

    "Hey Randy-

Know what you should tackle next if you manage to keep your sanity after finishing the Star Destroyer?

How about the Galactica in scale to this studio scale Cylon Basestar being done?

That would be cool... Galactica fans model collections would be complete!"

Anubis Pro... pass it on also please?

I think in the same neighborhood as the Star Destroyer... I'll send you a link to the base star project I'm talking about via PM.

THR PRICE OF THE STAR DESTROYER HAS TO GO UP IN PRICE,
IT COULD BE AS MUCH AS 90 DOLLARS. THIS IS DUE TO THE ROTO CASTING.

IT,S MORE THAN I (AND THE COMPANY DOING THE BODIES),FIGURED IT WOULD BE.

THAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH TRYING TO TO PERDICT PRICING ON SOMETHING OF THIS SIZE AND COMPLEXITY!

    IF I DON'T RAISE IT, I CAN'T MANUFACTURE THEM,

(THIS WILL NOT EFFECT THE PREORDERS I'VE ALREADY TAKEN).
    SORRY GUYS.........
I CAN'T BE OUT OF POCKET ON THESE KIT'S.
No need to be. I'm happy to stump up an extra 90 for a rotocast...

The price for pre-order customers should NOT be affected.

He is also working out an internal armature arrangement.
I hope so - I'd never be able to build it otherwise.

Any indication yet on UK shipping? Even just a ball-park figure?

    Yes, about $6,000.00 (US)

It should be easy to estimate. Just go to the US Post office web site, use their postage calculator.
Input Florida as the sending point.
Under package size put : Unknown and under weight, put Unknown.

Im sure you will get the answer you seek.

    Seriously,
The shipping estimates for the roto body were astronomical because the box was OVERSIZE.
We were looking at at least $300.00 to ship overseas. Even domestic S&H was over $100.00.
It is just not feasible to do the body as one piece and still keep cost where we ALL want.

Besides, Randy has already cut up the master pattern.
Molding of all other parts has been underway for a few days too.

Its all good... Most of us here are pretty fair model builders. With an internal armeture or at least a template that we can buy some plywood and cut out ourselves would be all that I would need. Wood and a piece of pipe to attach everything to is pretty cheap but to inlcude it into the kit would probably add 20+ dollars to the shipping (US) for the weight...

Perhaps acrylic and PVC... whatever as long as there is a template for the shapes and locator instructions (or better yet locator slots on the inside of the hull) I'd be cool with that.

Go for it. Those parts and the pissing around it would take me to get them/cut them/build it would be far more expensive.

I agree, an internal armature is a must with something this size. If we don't get it with the kit, it will be a pain in the rump to make it ourselves.

I wish I had your money

I was just putting out an option though. For me it would not be too much of a painful expereince if templates were provided for the cutting and alignment pionts in the casting were present - but I have a pretty decent supply of tools and space in my shop that not everyone has so I completely understand wanting an armature of some kind with the kit itself - like I said - its all good

I'm sure if it involves more money, that Randy will make it optional.
