Re: Rag-Tag Fleet custom build
Thanks!
The black cut-down Sherman hulls in the first pic are going to be mounting point covers for the equipment bays. |

Re: Rag-Tag Fleet custom build
Thank you!
Decided to tear off the Phantom drop tank halves: ![]() ...and go with part of the Fruehauf Tanker: ![]() Gussied up the exposed edge: ![]() Needed to fill the gap between it and the Saturn stage, so I used the remaining half of another Monogram Saturn part that I had cut down for use on the upper hull: ![]() It didn't reach the bottom, hence the 8rad parts. But you could still see in there: ![]() ...sure, only if you're REALLY looking, and only from certain narrow angles. Heck, the Galactica had big honkin' open spaces visible down its Saturn halves. But I just had to put something in there. So I made this ugly thing with sheet styrene* and a rubber tank track: ![]() ![]() *another fake sample credit card as seen on the unpainted upper hull earlier in the thread. If it's styrene, I keep it! There we go.

Re: Rag-Tag Fleet custom build
Except for the mounting point cover, I've finished detailing the underside.

This "old skool" style kitbashing and model making really gets my blood pumping! You're a visionary!

Re: Rag-Tag Fleet custom build
Gave it a quick paint job. Alternate mistings of Modelmaster Camoflage Grey and Tamiya Insignia White. The former is rather cool, and the latter too warm, but I like them together. You can kind of tell where some areas got more of one than the other, but that's okay. Gives it character. (And there's still weathering to come.)
