Plastic kit warping fixes.
Hi folks. I recently purchased a 2005 reissue of the AMT star destroyer (esb according to the box!) to use for for reference for a scratch build.
The kit's not fantastic but I hope to make it pretty with some detailling and modification. The bottom hull and side trenches are pretty warped, i'll build replacement trenches but was wandering if there was a good fix for the hull warping? I've heard of people using hairdryers but I'm worried this could cause it to 'curl' the other way. Should I warm it and then clamp it to something rigid so it sets straight and would warming it in a bath of hot water be a safer way of softening it? Any suggestions or past experiences would be greatly appreiated.
