    Jun 28, 2012 - Paint stored in the garage, heat/cold questions & comments. #1

I stored some of my Tamiya, Testors, Delta Ceramcoat, Folk Art, acrylic paints in the garage. Well, they've been there for at least a year now. The garage isn't insulated, so the temperatures have spanned 20 degrees - 90 degrees F. Now I find the paints are not working, adhering well at all. My fault right? Freezing - high temps have ruined them? Just have to buy new paint?

What about my spray cans? Are they also ruined?

Worst thing for paints is if they freeze.

I guess it doesn't matter if it is acrylic or enamel, bottle or spray can. What a waste.

Spray cans might be okay. I grew up in Texas and my dad kept his spray cans in that hot garage and they always worked when we needed them.
However, I keep all my paints in the basement of my home due to the belief that the stable temps will help them last longer.
