    Jul 19, 2012 - nuBSG Raptor: LEGO style - FINISHED #1

I'm pretty sure this belongs here, but if not....

I was on ebay a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across a guy who sold Lego "blueprints" of the nuBSG Raptor, among several other ships. It was cheap, so I decided to take the plunge. Once I bought the blueprints, he uploaded everything to his dropbox and I had 24 hours to download them. Once downloaded, I began my search for bricks. The best source I have came across is BrickLink - Unofficial LEGO® Marketplace. They have literally MILLIONS of bricks from a plethora of vendors around the world. The ONLY downside to this project has been trying to find individual bricks, but between a couple I bought on ebay, they have all been off bricklink. As the bricks started to trickle in, I began to assemble my Raptor. Unfortunately, I can only work as fast as the bricks arrive in the mail, so as of now, I am at a standstill until the last few key parts come in. The length is sitting around 10 inches and I have not connected the cockpit to the body as well as the tail section still has a few inches to go, as well as some bricks to add to the nose. Here are a few pics:

    The rear nav station:

    Overall length:

The guy has a website where you can buy everything from the 66 Batmobile to the Tumble, the BTTF DeLorean, Star Wars.. so much stuff!! Anyway, I'll continue to post pics until I'm done.

The kit on his website is about $15. All told, the bricks have came to about $232. However, there are a couple of vendors who had ONE brick I needed, so a .10 brick ended up costing me like $3. But it's a fun build.

Hehe, I'll never complain about the price of a complete, ready to build resin kit again! I'm so subscribing to this thread!

I haven't started on the pilots yet, but here's a TIE pilot for size reference.

    And by the pilots station.

    More to come!
    Thanks for looking.

Is the canopy a standard lego part, or is it a custom piece?

Looking real good in the meantime!

Well, there are a LOT of pieces, plus shipping is included in that price. You have to search for pieces on bricklink and you can't get every piece from one vendor. There were a couple of pieces I had to buy as single pieces. For instance, one vendor had one particular piece I couldn't find from any other vendor and that was the only piece I needed. So that .10 piece cost me $4 due to minimum shipping rate. Obviously, you save on shipping when you can find one vendor who has multiple pieces, but sometimes that's just not the case.

On the upside, I'm waiting on 1 more piece (4 of them, but one piece) to finish it up. Once it's finished, I'll post the pics with measurements. After this, I have the Viper mkII, Blackbird and hangar. This is going to be a huge diorama.
