Mars Attacks (saucer)

I started this a while back for a friend, the large saucer pieces are 15 1/2" and the smaller ones are 6". I drew all the parts out in Cad, and had the legs laser cut, not all parts are pictured. i am using two part urethane expanding foam (THANKS TO REL FOR THE ADVICE). I pour the foam into the saucer cross sections and sand to shape. ive got the two smaller sections ready for Vac forming, the larger parts i have already poured the foam but still in the sanding process. so heres a bunch of pics.

Thanks for Looking.

This is awesome! I always wanted to see a large model of this! I used to have one of the small garage kits, I really wish something this size would make it's way out there as a kit.

I formed the smaller domes today in .060 styrene. and i dont like the thickness. so im going to bump it up .125 that should work fine. so more soon.

Re: Mars Attacks (saucer)

I got the large top saucer section smoothed out in bondo and got the first coat of primer on. going to sand and add a few more coats of primer to true it up. if all else fails that top section will make a great salad bowl. LOL. heres a few pics. also going to re do the lower large section, i just dont like it. at least its the smaller of the two.

Thanks for looking.

Al
