Landmaster help!
I need to locat some wheels and tires for it first. Once I find those they will determine how big it is going to be. I want to make it at least 1/24 scale. It may be bigger depending on what tires I can find. Can anyone help me locate some wheels and tires? Here is a pic for reference! Thanks, Kenny

Re: Landmaster help!
Great choice - this is one of my fave vehicles.
Try RC monster trucks? Could be pricey though... |

Re: Landmaster help!
Just ordered some wheels and tires that I think will work out fine. They are about 1.5 inches each in diameter and they didn't cost an arm and a leg!
When they arrive I will get started on the drawing stage! Cross your fingers!

Re: Landmaster help!
It's too bad the you didn't decide to build this a few years ago, the Damnation Alley Landmaster was parked off the 101 Freeway here in Hollywood since I've been here back in 1988!
I could have taken any Photo of it you may have needed, unfortunately it's been moved or sold... I look forward to seeing your completed Landmaster. |

Re: Landmaster help!
Most of the time that site doesn't actually have the item in stock and they are know to be recasters of many garage kits.
Also the guy listed that did the patterns never makes his models accurate. IIRC someone on this forum was working on on a few years back, possibly Bradlyfett. D6 |

Re: Landmaster help!
I also remember seeing it off the 101 fwy. Always wondered what movie it was from. Parked next to it was 'Princess Vespa's' Mercedes from Spaceballs.

Nope, didn't see that! One foot huh? Mine may turn out to be in the 1:18 - 1:20 scale! With the wheels I was able to find it will actually turn out to be around 18" in length! I robbed some wheels off some monster trucks I found at Walmart. The only ones I felt satisfied with the trend pattern. Working on the tri-axle assemblies right now and then the frame/chassis. I have it mostly drawn out but it seems to change on a regular basis. Guess that's the way it goes!! |

Re: Landmaster help!
As you already have your wheels, this info is redundant, but in the link above was this information.
Farm equipment tire, 38 inches in diameter and 24 inches wide, are mounted on special 16.1-inch wheels. |

Re: Landmaster help!
I'm thinking of casting or vacuforming a 1/24th scale kit.
If those tires are accurate, I might be able to mold and cast a set for you. |

Re: Landmaster help!
Thanks guys, I have found the wheels and tires I'm gonna use. After I get over my little mishap I will get started on the wheel assembly and then the chassis!

Re: Landmaster help!
Should you ever produce 'working' drawings used in your build, would sincerely enjoy seeing such. Best of luck with this most excellent project !

Re: Landmaster help!
This project was put on the vack burner as I collected other projects. I need to get it out and finish it.
Thanks for the reminder. I will take some progress pics as I work on it. |

Re: Landmaster help!
I love that vehicle, it reminded me of my radio shack big trac, Damn I miss that toy...
And that movie caused me to develop a small fear of cockroaches. |
