Don't buy the recast Rex. Buy an original Horizon it will pay out.
There are always some on Ebay. For what you get those are all reasonable priced. Remeber this is an 19 years old item.

Yeah i figured a recast would probably be poor fitting and low detail. I have a promo sheet for the horizon models, the rex is actually 1/16 scale so it's huge. The lost world kit would be too small at 1/25 but might be a better fit, plus $200 for a horizon kit is crazy. I like the fact it's in an action pose too instead of just standing there. Here's some good pics of the paint so far. The small green parts of the roof need touched up as expected. Once it's touched up and the window trim is painted i think it will look perfect. Dunno about respraying the dome, after i detail it with lenses on the lights and paint what needs painted it should be ok.

Wheels, tires and undercarrige done. Used krylon fusion camo black and tan for weathering with steel and aluminum accents and watered down acrylic wash to show detail. also painted the white letters on the tires. Came out nice for a snap kit, although getting the converted wheels on the frame was a real pain.

Nice. Almost wishing I went the snap-kit route just for the chassis detail.

3:10 is pretty cool, actually a good reference, although the car's not accurate

So i'm at a point where i need to figure out the interior. This is what i've got with the dashboard. The 92 dash is half correct, the drivers side needs to mirror the passenger side. Only problem is that it's too wide and the door panels will have to be hacked up to make it fit. Also the curve of the windshield is different and it will have to be shaped to conform. Not sure what to do with it except just start cutting what i don't need off and go from there. I also have a decal sheet in the making, did a few test runs. Thanks to those who posted these images so I didn't have to make them myself. Also did a tiny bit on the front end of the body, I finally got some bottled green paint so i can continue.

    Defroster lines? Wild!

Seeing the decals for the rearview mirror hang tag wars the cockles of my heart.

    Great build

    That shine looks great!

If I may ask, what site did you get the monitor screen graphic (the little blue decal with the map)? Because I would really like to use that for my build, just to print it out on a white decal film and light it from behind so it looks like its in use. Any chance you could post her up?

On here actually, i think in the jp paper props thread. I might have to scale mine down even more after i actually have a dash built.

And yeah it's gonna be the cherry on top with that rear view mirror tag hanging down LOL

Thanks. I think the cherry on top is going to be that clear dome, that's the hardest to make.

Seems like it's almost done but there really is sooo much left to do. Still nice to see it somewhat come together.

It looks awesome and I really like the defrost lines.

I think you could easily get away with the original kit dash by replacing the entire top with a new shelf across the top. By the time you've scratched the center console screen no ones going to notice the newer glove box.

Yeah i'm really thinking the red dash is the way to go since it'll just snap in. The top doesn't seem to be the same on both sides though, like the drivers side is higher. Maybe i can sand it down. The face isn't flat either. Might be easier to make the whole thing from scratch. So tempted to be lazy but i won't

I've picked this interior apart completely, here's a few things i notice that i missed before. One thing i just now noticed is there is no tint on the top of the windshield like the production cars had.

Hey don't forget to paint the inner bulkhead tan coloured as well.

I love your build, can I have it? Kidding! If only though, because it's really wonderful looking. I hope mine turns out half as good as yours.

This thing's getting chained to the shelf when i'm done LOL not going anywhere! You'll have to post up pics of yours too, i'd like to see a different take on it. Yeah there's a ton of interior painting left to do. I figured the woodgrain is going to be a self made decal when i make the logos for the outside, instead of trying to paint it on and look cheesy.

Yeah it's funny how often headrests disappear and reappear throughout movies.

Decals on finally, I'm pretty happy with them but i might brush paint the inside of the zeros, looks better in person. Finished making the dash, put lenses on the roof lights too.
