Hi everybody this is my first post and I've decided to share my experince so far with the Iron Man Mk Vi Moebius kit.
This is the first time I've ever built a model kit so I was quite excited when I seent this kit as am I huge Iron Man fan.
I had already purchased the kit when I came across this website. I was just going to build the kit as it came out the box but once I found this website I liked the LED idea as some people on this site have done. As a new modeller this was a daunting task but I decided to do it anyway. I puchased 3 3mm LED'S for the hands and the eyes and a 5mm LED for the chest. The first step was to wire up all the LED in the hands and chest and build the arms around the wires. The chest piece needed a bit of reconstructing as the main body didn't have an opening to display the LED, I put the top plate of armour on top of the body and then with a hobby knife marked and cut away a triangle for the LED. The main problem with this was there was part of the main structure behind where the chest piece so I had to carefully cut away part of it to allow the LED to sit in place. Once I was happy I hot glued the LED'S to the kit and started construction.
The next stage was to start building the main body to allow the wires to run down through the legs and feet which i'm going to connect to a power supply. Again I had to do a bit of drilling to allow the wires to run from the chest through the legs and out from the bottom of the foot. Once that was done I started to put the kit together, Unfortunately with all the wiring and reconstruction I had done not everything had joined as I had hoped. So I decided to putty all the seems and the gaps that had appeared, Once that had hardened I sanded it down to get rid of the seams. After that I painted the kit with grey primer which allowed me to see if and gaps still appeared which there was. Another thin layer of putty was applied the sanded again.
The next stage is to sub assemble the head for the LED and paint the main body red
