Han Solo 'Carbon Freeze' coffee table! R9 WEBSITE NOW UP!!

R-9. Sci Fi. Functional. Art

Its only a prototype at the moment. The glass in the pic is only resting on the columns. Correct glass is being cut and engraved as I type...

It will have a low base, possibly mirrored at 45 degrees so that anyone looking under the table will see Solo 'float'. N ot sure if thats is going to be worth doing as the whole thing is designed to sit about 14" from the ground.

Let me know what you think guys....the Falcon bronze table is not far off either....

The colums are machines aluminium 30mm diameter. The glass gets drilled in the apporopriate places, and then a top screws down into the colums. All sandwhiched between a nice felt spacer.

As for legs, we're working on that. They are desiged not to be seen. When you walk into a room Solo will look low to the floo and appear to float.

No mate, this is desined to be as low to ground and as simplistic as possible. What you see in the pics is pretty much how it will look in the living room. The whole thing sits about 14" from floor to glass.

Yeah, are you putting this into production at all? At least the carbonite 'front' for us to use with our own built frame, legs, glass, etc?

Sorry guys, shoudl have given a bit more info for those that didnt follow the original Solo build.

Solo himself was sculpted from a combination of Wed and Chavant clay. The final piece was cold cast in aluminium.

The feet and columns are all machined Aluminium, complete with red felt washers between surfaces.

Glass has polished edges and is tempered.

That is indeed awesome!! I would love to have one of those. What do people who do not know much about Star Wars think of it? Don't get me wrong I love it, it just seems to me if you didn't know anything about SW (if there is such a person) it might look kinda creepy. Y'know, dead frozen guy under your coffee table!!

Ever had any other reaction to it?

Laspector I thought the same thing : ) But for us fans, of couse, this is a brilliant work of art. It's a masterpiece and whatever cost it carries is totally justified.

Lol, when we were putting this together we were forever esxplaining to people what it was! It was amazing to learn just how many people had never heard of Han Solo, and in fact how many had never even seen Star wars!!!!

Having said that, we have never met anyone who didnt like it
