I've got one of these in the pipeline this year and would love to see base ideas. One I idea i have is to use acrylic/perspex.

Thanks Dave, I'm glad you liked it, it's certainly one of my favourite pieces. What I wanted was to make a base that would allow it to sit in the same position as the ILM model, and If I had enough space it would have it's own display case as well. The base is made from a light fixture ceiling cap, a piece of lamp tubing, and a brass tripod that's made to hold a glass shade. My brother restores antique lighting, some of the parts come in handy. Anyway, here's a few shots.

That is truly a stunning paint job. Understanding the dynamics of photography, I can just imagine how great it looks in preson.

Amen to that. That FM Falcon of Chris' looks better than ANY MR Falcon I've seen. I had no idea it had so much detail. In some ways, it's more accurate than the MR one. Also, the detail pieces are pretty well in scale with their larger MR counterparts. I've never seen a model kit that had this sort of detail in such tiny parts. May have to get me one of those!!!

I have been working on the Death Star hanger from The original Star Wars (the special edition version that looks like the Jedi hanger). It is in scale with the FM falcon but would work in various scales. I have the wall sections molded and some of the hallway sections will be going under rubber soon.

Let me know what you think.
