Fine Molds Millennium Falcon finished

Well , where do i start? I originally bought this kit from Hong Kong. It was then delivered to the wrong address , the guy denied he had it , parcel force rang him and told him it was illegal to hold something not addressed to him , parcel was suddenly discovered!
I put alot of work into this one. I cut out the slots in the armour hull plating amongst other things. I accidently sent some of the parts to a member in Australia , luckily they are on theyre way back to me.Times got hard and i had to sell it. 4 months go by and i really missed it. Luckily a member on Britmodeler contacted me and let me have it back as he had not touched it. Well it is now finished and i am exceptionally happy with it. The paint is a custom mix of Tamiya Deck Tan and White , weathering was done with my own mixed dirt colour.
The display case was bought for one i had when this model first came out. It was professionally made and originally had a mirrored base and back. The back got broken so i replaced it with a piece of perspex. I piece of black card covers the mirror base.
HUGE thanks to TonyT for letting me have this , and my Y wing back!

One of the best finishes I've seen on a Falcon. Top work!

Stunning, i'd love one but can't paint and the Sideshow version is too expensive.

Very nicely done man! Built stock or slightly modified and these models easily look the part IMHO. The story makes it even more satisfying a build as well I imagine. About the only thing that didn't happen to this one was winning it in a card game.

Wow! Nice work. Is this the cut-away model? if so, do you have photos of the interior? I have a similar kit and I am just about to start it.
Great paint job too.

Re: Fine Molds Millennium Falcon finished

The Fine Molds Falcon is a unique model kit in no way related to the MPC mold (which was modified to make the Cutaway Falcon that AMT issued about 10 years ago). I suppose it would have been cool if FM did offer it as a cutaway, but the references for the Falcon's deck plan vary so widely I doubt they would be able to do one that would be considered accurate to everyone.

I agree. I see so many modelers get so heavy-handed with the weathering that the end result bears very little resemblance to any of the filming models. Strong work!

I think you're referring to the kit produced by AMT/Ertl. The kit in Gunpowder's post was produced by Fine Molds, is considerably more detailed than any of the AMT/Ertl Star Wars kits (more than 900 parts), and is considerably more expensive (generally in the $200 range).

Gee whiz brother! NICE job! This kit (in any incarnation) has always scared the heck out of me - there is so much going on with it, but you captured all the details. Bravo!
