    Jul 14, 2012 - EVA Foam density question #1

A question about eva foam density which hopefully someon can help me with.

i bought some "funky foam" sheets which are approx just slightly less than 2mm in thickness. but if you stretch them a little they rip quite easily.

Since im going to be using the foam and wrapping some fabric around it to make the nike mag shoe replica wearable, I think this craft foam would be too weak.

So i searched on the web and found some suppliers of eva foam sheeting with the following densities.

    low density - shore 30
    medium density - shore 50
    high density - shore 65

they have sizes of 1mm, 3mm and upwards.

    no 2mm sizes.

i was thinking of going with 3mm at medium, which should be strong enough and durable.

if any of you guys have experiences of these different density eva sheets, please let me know, otherwise i may turn into George mcfly!

    thanks
