    Jul 19, 2012 - Darthsideous - Ecto-1a build #1

I'm working on a build of the Ecto-1a and have decided to super detail the model. I've had this kit for 23 yrs, and about 20 yrs ago had sprayed the body badly (drip marks) on it. I looked at it again about 15 yrs ago and noticed some sort of bacteria or fungus was growing in the paint. Well I decided to strip off the paint and re-attempt the kit.

As I said I plan to super detail this model so I I decided to make 1/25 scale ghostbusters from my trusty spare parts tub. Here's what i came up with so far.

    Ray and Peter:

    Better shot of Ray:

    Egon and Winston:

Figures placed in the roughed tub of the car with some old reading material from the first movie just to check the idea. You'll also notice that I upgraded the computer keyboard as well:

    Peter and Winston:

    Egon and Ray:

Next i decided to make some ghost traps for our heros. Four ghost traps created from scratch:
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg5 ... an/224.jpg

Of course they can't have ghost traps and not proton packs. Four Proton Packs created from Scratch:

    Detail of the Dashboard:

Next i decided I needed something to place the Proton Packs on. So here's the Proton Pack Stretcher scratch built:

Placed on the stretcher - Proton packs on the stretcher:

    Check your links.

Either they are set to private or they don't work at all.

Thanks knightdriver2001, yep I see that. It's weird the album is set to public. I'll have to fix this tonight from home when I have more time.

Thanks again for letting me know about the problem. I should have it corrected tonight.

Looking forward to this. I have this kit still in the box and have been wanting to build it for a long time. Just haven't been sure how much detail I want to invest and add to it.

Ok, let’s try this again. I am a total newbie when it comes to photo bucket. Here we go.

Here’s the 1/25 ghost traps I created from scratch
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/224.jpg
I had fun creating the ghost trap and never had seen anyone create 1/25 scale Ghostbusters so I decided to give it a try
    Here’s Ray
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/216.jpg
    Egon and Winston
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/214.jpg
    Ray and Peter
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/211.jpg
I have much more detail to add to them still
I also wanted to create proton packs and a stretcher to place them on. Here’s my scratch built proton packs
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/166.jpg
Here’s the stretcher I created for them
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/167.jpg
Here’s a picture of the packs on the stretcher
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/169.jpg
I wanted to see how the figures would look in the tub before gluing them in so I test fitted them:

    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/161.jpg
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/159.jpg
I hope the links work now. This is my first post of my work here on RPF.

You will also notice i upgraded the keyboard from my spare parts tub the figures are also from my spare parts tub heavily modeified. Wire glasses added to Egon. I intend to do more work on them.

    WOW, That's really nice!

Perfect detailing on such small parts.

Great job so far. can't wait to see more of this.

I don't know how much they might help, but here's my pics of my Ecto's from years back. I did much the same with the detailing in the back and on the roof rack.

Talisen, thanks for your post! Your pics are really helpful. I have seen some of them before (long ago, and I didn't know they were yours).

    Knightdriver2001, thanks for the compliment!

Well, I’ve managed to plug away and get some more done. I wasn’t happy with the detailing of the side doors and rear door so I decided to cut them off and replace them with new doors. Still have to figure out what doors would be best. I have a few scrap cars in the tub so we’ll see what I can find. In the meantime I have flocked the entire carpeted area and painted the car cell phone, and rear mud matt, as well as, the rear area of the car interior.

    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/210.jpg

After that I applied some additional decals to the interior. I even got some text from the movie (the part where Egon is looking up Vigo on the computer) and applied the decal to the screen

    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/225.jpg
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/227.jpg
You’ll notice that I added some tube support pillars. I am still working on the interior and am constantly moving the tub in and out of the body to test fit thing so I have temporarily placed these in to prevent the figures from being damaged.

I glued in the figures, and the gurney. Peter was looking a little plain so I created a bag of Stay Puft marshmallows for him. I scratched the marshmallows & bag by chopping up plastic bits and using some plastic. The image is something I found online.

    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...Hitman/488.jpg
I also painted up some MT-500 radios from the parts tub as well. Here they are:
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...n/P1010295.jpg

I’m really having fun with this. I’ll keep plugging away hopefully I’ll have something more to show soon.

Added some detail to the ghost traps, by adding a foot pedals and cables. I also created a1/25 Giga meter, and started work on a 1/25 Slime thrower
    http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/...295-edited.jpg
    I’m almost done the interior.
In the pictures you’ll see I have added a cab separator, and seatbelts. I have also done some work to the figures.
I was looking at the figures and decided that they needed more Ghostbuster detail. So I added elbow pads, belt gizmo thingy’s, and the leg hoses
I also added 1/25 Ecto goggles for Ray and a PKE meter for Egon.

I decided to test fit the tub into the repop body to see how it would look
