CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas)

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP *updated*

I downloaded a good 3d model of the Atlas titan and was able to open it in blender. Its good for reference. I'll try and get you a link if you want.
yeah, that would be great! :) I have been fiddling with Blender lately. If it is more or less accurate it would help a great deal. There is a lot of hidden geometry in the screen caps and pics I have found. a 3d model would be my best friend.

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP

it doesn't download as an .obj file but as a .7z file. I can't get Blender to use it. could you walk me thrue it or tell me what I did wrong?

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP

Oh man! I really can't wait to see this take shape. Good luck with the build and keep the pics coming! :)

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP

7z is a zip file. Just extract it to a folder and the obj. file should be in there. You then need to click import in blender and select obj. I just took this to show you what sort of quality to expect.

The mesh is fuzzy, but with the render in place the detail looks stunning... I finally figured out how to do it... it took me two hours and I pissed off my wife, but I did it. :) I have no PC skills. :( Thank-you for this. It means a lot. That torso is a booger. I think I have it figured out, though. I will have an update for you all by Saturday night, US central time. Thank-you all for your support and encouragement! I am deeply touched. :D

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP

Good. I'm glad you figured it out. It should help a lot being able to rotate the model. I don't really know blender myself, but I enjoy messing about with it . Looking forward to the update.

Hello Cadeus,

Great project, I myself have a similar project over at OSW, thanks to Beginner Maker (Whats up!).
Keep on going!

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP

Hey guys. My internet is down or I would have posted an update already. I should have it up and going tomorrow and I have an update ready to post. I hate using my phone for internet... It is just so tiny and difficult to navigate! So see you soon with some pics. It's about time, huh?!? LOL!

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP

Well, anything new? Threezero have said they will be releasing 1/6 pilots.

(If I could get this thing done, I wonder if they would sponsor production of it... :) ) Yes, I have progress, like I said. I just need to get it uploaded... It's boring progress, as it is work I have already done. I am currently doing damage control to replace the lost pieces my dog "ate". But I know y'all are anxious so I will try to have it up by the end of the day. I can't apologize enough for all the delays... just know that I am grateful for your patience.

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) WIP UPDATED!

Hello everyone. First of all, thank you all for your patience. It has been a while since I posted any progress on this, and for good reason. But today is the day!!! And I have something new to show you, I think... just one thing (cause you already saw the rest.) I have not had much time to work on her. And I am asshamed that my progress has not run concurrent with my expectations. But I digest. For your viewing pleasure:

This is the piece I don't think you have seen because it is fairly new. It was the first piece I built when I re-started. I thought it might help motivate me... I give you the "cod". It is not complete, but coming along nicely.

I got myself a nice sketch pad and re-calculated everything to make sure it was accurate, drawing the objects at scale before I cut them out and assembled them.

This is sketch of the bullet... I still haven't decided on a material to make it with. (I lack a lathe)

And here is the glamour shot. I inserted the scale drawing of the body for reference.

Now I realize this doesn't seem like much but I don't have a lot to work with at the moment. Most of what I did was finished at the dinner table, because I don't have a proper work-space. And I had to calculate and draw out everything by hand... no CAD programs here. :) But I hope you are pleased and might offer me some support and maybe a few suggestions. I am working it out as I go along. Everything you see in the last shot is new. I had to re-build EVERYTHING. It was very, very boring and I almost gave up on it. I have the feet drawn to scale, and obviously the body, so those are my next three projects; (1 body, 2 feet). I will update as soon as I can but am reluctant to give a time-frame because I always seem to miss my dead-line. Your interest fuels me, and I am grateful! :D As always, thanks for looking!

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) NEW UPDATE

Brother, sorry to have read that your puppy had your progress for breakfast while you where away, but I do hope the Church was good. ;) Well, looks like your off to a great start again. Now, how big are we looking this will be...24" or 36"?

Hi, youngtiger1. The answer to your question is "bigger"... Even the Titanfall website isn't willing to lock the canon on the height of this thing. All I could find was 20-25 feet tall. So I did my own calculations and it seems that 20 feet is more accurate, so I went with it. And it is working out really well, even when compared to a 1/6 scale figure. So I ran with it and haven't looked back. And that puts this booger at an even 40" tall! :) I will use an actual 1/6 scale figure as the pilot. I keep looking on ebay for a good deal on one... thank-you for checking out my work. I hope you'll subscribe and feel free to ask questions or offer criticism if necessary.

PS- thanks for the sympathy, Mike. it was rough. and church is always good. :)

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) NEW UPDATE

Hi, Tony. Thanks for posting. Yes, I am studying the joints carefully. I am planning to build some basic joints before I epoxacoat everything. And then I will add all the eccentric bits before I mold it all. I am always open to suggestions, though. I am really having fun with the hands, because there are some really neat concept art images out there that really sell the hand joints. But I am not there, yet. So I would be happy for any suggestions you feel like making. Thank-you for your kind words and your interest. This is turnning out to be a lot of fun. (And I am getting a small workshop to move my work to tomorrow, so I hope I can speed up my progress some.... I won't have to work at the kitchen table, anymore! :) )

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) NEW UPDATE

Hello Cadeus,

Great to here you are moving up! Any workspace away from kitchen would make family and pets happy! I am using Worbla http://www.worbla.com/, and find it easy to use.
I am working on the body and hands this week.

Have some updates later.
Tony

Re: CADEUS's - (1:6 scale TITAN Atlas) NEW UPDATE

I might have to join you fellas and start one of my own! I know my girlfriend wants me to.

I think you should build one. It has been a lot of fun. But riddle me this: would you build an Atlas, or a different Titan? A Goliath at 1/6 scale would look awesome! :)
