Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

Some serious attention to detail here has really helped me with my Aoshima/AMT 1/24 build. Just wanted to say thanks and def looking forward to more on this 1/15 beauty.

Be careful using reference of the original car as it sits today. Why in the world does the cable extend around the back wheel well on these 1/15 versions? Probably because they were using reference of the A car as it sits today. It drives me somewhat crazy. lol.

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

small update ..should be cracking on again this week

ive scribed panel lines into the door jambs for some added detail and it gives me a line to paint up to

major reconstruction of the bumper area , the whole area was wrong and some was completly missing behind the flux band

Very good, That's a monster of a project. I have one myself so I know the pain of it, it has very dense molded black plastic which makes it harder to cut up.

really ? i find it all cuts okay apart from the clear flux bands

try a dremel with a cutting disc , and a bare metal scriber for the smaller cuts

Compared to typical white styrene that many model kits are made of, the plastic of the DeLorean is quite tough in my opinion.

White stuff seems to sand down a bit easier.

Dear steveo and members

Thank you for inviting me to this RPF steveo.

The Delorean that you are making is just awesome ! !

And I think you take the best way to make details of Delorean based on its film.

Your teqnique is simply great.

My friends made the custom Delorean for me.

It lights up almost everything and some lights move by special made electric circuits.

You can see my delorean URL below.

2011 you can see some photos of Delorean on the article on 3/4 2011

and you can see the videos here.

Back to the Future

Back to The Future part 2 my special custom Delorean with music - YouTube

I hope that if possible , I would like to corraborate with steveo and make the best Delorean scale model ever.

Thank you.

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

right more progress today

chassis seemed to hang a little low , so 2mm cut off there, thats s far as you can cut without all the underside bits showing

front bumper area is coming along , got a coat of colour on there to show up where it needs more work

flux band cut out on the body is now smoothed over

and better not forget those vents in the pillar

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

also made an effort to make the doors close and align nicley , theyre awefull at the moment

im making some progress but the latching system isnt good enough , you see it has a small tab under the door and a hole in the side that it clips into

can anyone think of a better idea to make the door latch better , so its tight and closes in the same spot every time

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

very nice my friend! I LOVE the vents!!! I was lazy in building these (just going to paint them on).
BTW, i WAS planing on correcting the doors by making the hinge more accurate... (top of doors should NOT fold inside the vehicle ) why don't you do this now while you still can?

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

i'll take a look at the doors hinges , tbh im finding so many problems with it ,some stuff will have to stay slightly wrong

if you look at a real one the side molding is inline all the way along and matches the rear bumper...not so on the model lol

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

got some 2 x 0.5 mm magents today , one is strong enough to hold up a steel ruler so they should be ideal for the doors

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

cut away the battery compartment and filled in the holes /gaps where the hinges were , ive smoothed it all and the hood now snap fits with 4mm magnets

i noticed the under fender /arches area was poorly made and had a large gap that makes it look toy like , so ive filled them in best i can , still a bit more work to do

notice theres a bigger gap one side lol

Re: BTTF diamond select DeLorean 1/15 upgrades/mods

right this doesnt look much , ive spent forever making the doors fit nice and close tight onto magets

once they fitting nice the door rub strip molding no longer lined up..infact i dont think it ever did , so i sanded that off , and it revealed another mistake in that there was a line in the body thats not there on the real car so thats filled in now with bondo

once im nearly ready to paint i will attach a new rub strip made from styrene

Re: BTTF diamond select DeLorean 1/15 upgrades/mods

if you go to the DeLorean web site you can look up all the parts and see how they were put on the car to give you a better idea on how the door were put on the car.

Just read through the whole thread...

Re: BTTF diamond select DeLorean 1/15 upgrades/mods

time for some rear corner details

the swage line in the side was missing , and the lower line is in the wrong position as shown here

so i added the swage line, and made a cut out for the marker lense which hopefully will light up

needs some fine detail work , then add the rub strip and make a new lower line

docs cat clock keeping an eye on things for me

Re: BTTF diamond select DeLorean 1/15 upgrades/mods

okay another update

slowwwwwwww progress on the door mirrors , as you can see by the pics the original toy mirror is too big and rather poor all round

ive cut it in two , heavily modded it reshaping etc so its close to how it should be , still not finished and i have the other side to do , just painted it quick to check its okay then on with the other side

here the corner line was wrong ..filled in and smoothed off

scribed in a new one in the right place
