BTTF diamond select DeLorean 1/15 upgrades/mods

some of you may have seen my pics on teks thread , rather than continure to confuse folk and clutter his thread im going to start my own

i was pleased when i saw diamond select had a large 1/15 bttf II delorean , and while its a nice toy its got plenty of room to improve things

i plan to detail and scratch build a few parts to make it a better display piece

heres a run down of whats been done so far , and thanks to SPENCER for the ref pics and advice so far

made some floor mats and carpeted the flooring

new switch made from a lump of lexan

started cutting the chassis , i may light this or put something green in there

started to remove the molded on wiring , ive sinse taken it all off so i can add real wire

the bumper on the model is wrong and has a curve , its where they copied a damaged real dmc when making it

here you can see ive cut off the bent piece and have made a new bit to bond on , theres also my new grille for the rear deck

made a new rear deck as the toys one has molded on stuff

took a screen grab here ..so i can make the tow bar thats in the bumper

a few scratch built items im working on

new hoses for the vents

Hey Steveo, i love your scratch built pieces!
Also, you mention that you "made new vents from thinner plastic." Do you have pics? The one shown above looks like the original.
On mine, I decided to keep the original outer vent, thinned it down, & will create the inner vents out of styrene because they are way off.

You can see the correct spacing on the original here:

Out of town for a few days, but will post my pics on Mon.

Hey hey, looking awesome.

Why don't you and TEK team up and make a detail kit for the 1/15 toy?

Can't wait to see this floating over its base.... right in time for 2015 too!

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

Steve,

The Oil Separators look great! I wouldn't have made that hole in the middle though, it should be level with the lower one. And you might want to fill in a few more seams and give it a wetsand before you paint.

The corrugated black pipe should be replaced with a smooth one on the crossover tube.

Nice work so far, Keep it up!

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

yeah the seams will be gone before paint ..the pics show up every flaw lol

you mean the holes for the foil tubes? not sure i can fit em side by side , have you any pics of it ?

the tube is not touched yet, thats how it came..ive got some tiny nuts on order i can hopefully use with a new tube

Re: steveo's diamond select delorean 1/15 upgrades

The bottom tubes go right next to each other, the original cars had wooden disks that held the hoses into place. You might want to try filling over the holes with some putty and adding some little styrene disks to hold them, or just fill over and drill some new holes.

Nope, thats one of the worst Time machines ever made. The guy who built it is a real sack of s*** and is corrupt as the night is dark.

Just use the reference of the screen used cars, you never want to reference a replica because you'd just be copying their mistakes.
