Re: The Bat Factory......
This is the pre-shading of the first movie Batmobile.....A gloss mist coat of black will be applied so that the colors show through.

Re: The Bat Factory......
The first paint job failed.......I watched the movie with my cousin over the weekend, and noticed a way to do the paint job, which resulted in a nice effect. The black car is the second movie car,you can just make out the colors in the first movie car......

Re: The Bat Factory......
Cool to see someone try to achieve that beetle shell finish from the first movie. Very elusive!

Re: The Bat Factory......
The Keaton batmobile has so much more character than the one from Batman Begins.

Re: The Bat Factory......
Agree, that's why it is not forgettable like the tumbler........It is a main character of the film.

Re: The Bat Factory......
Well actually I much prefer the Tumbler.
But the two designs are completely different aethetics. Regardless, this looks like some great work. Keen to see the final results! |

Re: The Bat Factory......
Absolutely gorgeous! You have to post a tutorial of how you did the beetle shell effect! I have an '89 Batmobile waiting for me to build up the nerve to take a crack at it!

Re: The Bat Factory......
For my latest attempt at this I painted the model with Rustoleum semi gloss black, then did the shading with Alclad prismatic colors, the blue to UV,the green. This left a very rough texture,so I shot two coats of Rustoleum flat clear to blend it all in.

Re: The Bat Factory......
Quick question- did you spray the colors straight from the can, or did you decant it and use an airbrush?
My first attempt at painting the batmobile was Tamiya black with clear green overcoats. ...didn't work out too well! |

Re: The Bat Factory......
The black and the clear were straight from the can,the prismatic's are air brush lacquers.

Re: The Bat Factory......
I love seeing artists at work.
I too have an ERTL 89 Batmobile model just waiting for a good paint job. And I love Rustoleum...
