Any Experience on this Terminator Kit?

Hey guys!

I had a blast today at the Oregon Convention Center at the Rose City Comic Con here in Portland. Amongst my haul were two model kits: an MPC Falcon (as we all know and love), and a model of the T-800 that I've never seen before.

The box art:

The instruction sheet:

The still bagged kit parts:

Has anyone built this? Did I just buy a cool Terminator kit or a box of parts to glue onto spaceships?

I built one for a friend in the mid-90's. It's a good kit. The parts fit neatly. Because it is so small and well detailed, I opted to paint it black with an overlay of (I don't think it's available anymore) Ral Partha Dragonscale Silver metallic wax. When buffed and clearcoated it gave a good chrome steel appearance.

I liked building it.

I have the kit and built it ..(No pics yet). Its a keeper. Always like the endos, I have a 1/1 Vinyl Skull yet to be built. So build and enjoy,joedoc973

Wow, Katsu-san! You got some really nice results from that kit! What did you use to get the chrome effect? I'm also curious about what exactly you used for your black wash and also how you did the red eye lights.

You are definitely one of the more talented builders here, on a board that overflows with talented guys. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

The kit also comes in a chrome version. It's very nice and very easy to build. I have both versions, the standard kit that I built long ago (looks like crap because of my skills at the time) and then the chrome version still in the box. Don't think I'll ever build that one, though.

Hi, Alex-san,

Thanks for the comment.

That's a crome version kit.
I used thin black enamel paint for the wash and that's all.
The red eye lights are 0.5mm optical fiber with the red LED behind.

{I think you should use metallic lacqer spray available at the car accesory shop.
It's very good and looks like stainless steel surface.
Then you use the enamel paint for the wash.
It's not going to harm the lacquer paint.
