Re: Anigrand Star Destroyer build one for FuseNova and one for glen3631
Here are a few update photos for glen3631.
I have one more deflector sheild to glue photo etch to and that will be done just after I post this update. A lot of fiber optics have been run and a lot more to do. I am hopefull that I will have most if not all fibers run by the end of the week if not sooner. Once that is finished the kit will start to go together a lot faster. Until next update... Re: Anigrand Star Destroyer build one for FuseNova and one for glen3631
OK! here is the long awaited update.
First photo is me trying to wire up those tiny 1mm led bulbs for the trench spotlights. The wifes lighter (part of her makeup bag) is to help me with the shrink tube as I do not have a heat gun. Second photo is all of those spotlights installed on the upper hull and hooked up to a 9v to make sure all is working as planned. The third photo are light boxes to hold the led bulbs in place for the hanger bay. The next photo is some inner detail I made (not screen accurate) to put in the trash area. The photo after that is of the main engine being prepped. All three are fully built and ready to be installed. The bottom hull nose is currently being run with fibers. I am very hopefull that all fibers will be done in the next few days. Wednesday I hope to wire it all together. As long as the weather stays nice, paint will begin next weekend. The last photo is of my desk as it satnds tonight. I moved my desk light up higher and have a hook to hold the dremmel. I would like to add a second light to the other side of my desk. Running these fibers at night has been hell. Is is so much easier when there is a lot of light. Oh, and yes... I am listening to the soundtrack of Empire Strikes Back as I am working on the kit tonight. I really want to finish this up. As you all know, I have some kits in my collection that are screaming to be finished and some to be started. Until the next update... Last edited by dtssyst; 03-21-2012 at 04:32 PM. |

Re: Anigrand Star Destroyer build one for FuseNova and one for glen3631
Progress has been made.
The lower and upper hulls are complete and glued together. Every single one of these kits that I have built so far have been a pain in the @ss. The fit of some parts are great while some are.. well...not. As long as the weather is nice on my next day off I will be able to start painting as I should have the kit fully assembled by tomorrow night. Last edited by dtssyst; 03-21-2012 at 04:32 PM. |

Well they may be a pain in the @ss, but they sure are beautiful when they are done, aren't they?

However, I do not get to enjoy it for long as they get shipped to the person I built them for. Someday I will build my kit so I can enjoy it. For now, it will be on hold. This is so I can do some of the other kits that are in my collection. |

They're getting rare. If you can track one down, get it.
I absolutely hated mating the hulls. My least favorite kit I've ever worked on, I think. |

The ship is assembled. However, it needs a lot more care in the terms of putty work than what I was expecting. Painting will begin this week, just not today.

It is a great day for painting.
The wife says... 'Also, to do the lawn' ![]() While painting, I did find a few things that need to be touched up. Either way, it is starting to look really good. Last edited by dtssyst; 04-04-2012 at 09:48 AM. |

Rather than watching paint dry... today, I built the base to display the ship.
Still have some painting to do but it is very close to being finished. PS. The lawn is done |

I would also be interested in knowing the answer to your question as I have not seen the RC in person.

Re: Anigrand Star Destroyer build one for FuseNova and one for glen3631
It is finished.
Very overcast today so I could not get any outdoor photos. I did take a few indoor photos without flash and hand held the camera. The reeftank is in this room so there is spillover light from it when I took the photos. Sorry about that. |

Let me be the first to chime in that this is absolutely stunning work.
It takes SOOOO much work to put together one of these lit up Star Destroyer models and yours always looks so incredible. I have a Randy Cooper one and the guy I bought it from had done an Anigrand as well for a client in Canada. He swears he will never do another Anigrand again . . . Apparently, the RC version is a bit easier to work with from a model builder's perspective. |

I tried to take some good photos of this finished build as I did not get/take to many from the second build that I did.

Re: Anigrand Star Destroyer build one for FuseNova and one for glen3631
Lovely work.
Question... when the lights are in recessed areas, do you cut them flush with the surface, or as close as you can get. If it's flush with the surface, how do you do that? I can't see how you'd get anything in there to snip them tidily. |

Re: Anigrand Star Destroyer build one for FuseNova and one for glen3631
All I used was 3-4 new x-acto #11 razer blades. I learned an approach for me that works. Not sure I can explain it.
