Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
Definately out of my comfort zone with this one but the trooper has given me a bit of a confidence boost.

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
Are you going to make the cape as a soft pat?

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
possibly i will do the cape but i was also thinking of sculpting it all not really decided yet to be honest why what do you think?
I had the premium format one and it looked like a toy with the soft parts so i am a little wary plus it will add a lot to cost if i did a small run. |

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
I was hoping you were going to sculpt it. I agree about it making it toyish looking

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
I think at 1:3 scale, a cloth cape could be done without looking too toyish. The tough part is making it thin enough so it looks in scale, but also thick enough that light doesn't shine through it too easily.

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
What do you reckon the height difference would be? The trooper is around 60cm so i was thinking 64-65cm for Vader?

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
I just did the math: If Prowse was 6'7" then 1/3 of that would be 26.66667 inches or 67.7 cm

Which would not include shoe thickness or the helmet's added height.

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
Cool project! I'm sure you'll pose him better than the "aerobic" Cinemaquette version!
![]() It's absolutely possible to get the fabric capes looking "in scale". Here's a pic of the cape on the 1:3 scale Superman costume that I commissioned. ![]() Good luck with it! Chris |

Re: 1:3 Scale Darth Vader
I have one of those soft sliky feeling cloths that you use to clean a computer screen/sunglasses etc, not entirely sure what it's made of but it's pretty thin, black and totally opaque. More importantly its so heavy/silky for it's size that it hangs like a much larger piece of fabric would. Might be a great fabric for a cape......
