Hello
The Nova is now finally completed. As most of the model has already been shown in detail, here is a final bunch of walkaround pictures.![]()
It was a blast to build, even though it took me forever to finish it. Hope you guys like it and thanks for watching.
Best regards
Kevin
Holy crap this is impressive. Coolest model car I've ever seen. If you ever made more of these, I would totally buy one!
Hello movie fans
To finish this WIP off, I took some outdoor pics of the Nova. I think the car looks pretty cool in that location. It΄s an abandoned stonepit.
And another one...
Thanks for looking and best regards,
Kevin
Excellent replica inside and out! Those outdoor shots make it look like the real deal! Well, not the upside down shots, but...you know what I mean.
Any suggestions for where we lowly modelers might be able to find a "rubber duck" hood ornament for our own Death Proof Nova builds?
Thanks Zombie
For those who are interested in a Rubber Duck hood ornament, I΄d suggest to keep your eyes on American International Truck Models. I have just contacted them and they will have the duck (casted in resin) available soon in 1/25 scale. Don΄t know when exactly, but it will definately be available there. Here΄s a link to their homepage:

Thanks Kevin! A few years ago there was a seller on evilBay that offered them occasionally, but their listings for them became less and less frequent. So when they did list one, bidding wars drove the price into what I considered to be unreasonable territory (i.e., I'll try to sculpt one myself before I pay $50 for a piece of resin not much larger than a grain of rice).
Are you serious? They reached 50 bucks in auctions? Good for the seller...but that΄s just crazy.![]()
Well, to be honest I remember that happening once. But I did see two or three of them go into the $25-$35 range, which I thought was bad enough. And yes, I know it's not cheap to hire a sculptor, make molds, pour resin, etc., but I think anything over $15 for something so small is unreasonable.
I have paid something like 3-5 bucks for the duck, which is a common price range for aftermarket stuff in this size.
And there was still a lot of work required on the hood ornament. Removing flash and replacing the socket was really challenging. Due to the small size it was very difficult to handle it. When you grabbed it with your fingers, there was not much area left to work on. I΄m pretty happy I got it done without breaking the ducks neck...![]()
Those outdoor shots look incredible. Such a fantastic job.
