Just curious if anybody (kit or scratch built) has done a 1/2000 scale Klingon Bird of Prey.
Thought it would make a nice addition to the USS ENTERPRISE 1701 D Prop Replica 1/2000 12" LED lit model from AOSHIMA I just got.
The scene from Generations is what I was thinking.
Ok, I'm confused on the scale. are you referring to the small one that was included in the AMT 3 piece set or the larger scale that they just re released with the landing gear and ladder? I've done a couple of both sizes but none of the newest release.
Unless they re molded them they really aren't that great out of the box. The baffles are out of scale with the rest of the ship. And I'm pretty sure the whole thing is a little off.
I considered taking my Hallmark Keepsake BOP and giving it a better paint job. A few years back we pulled it out of storage to put on the tree and found the wing cannons had broken. It's pretty close to the other scale wise, already lit. what more could you want?
If you want an accurate looking version it's scratch built or heavy modding of the kit.
On another note I LOVE the bigger scale version. I have built many of those and sold or gave them to folks. At one time I had over 10 of them stacked up with full intentions to light a few but it never came to pass.
The problem with the question of scale, is that the BoP was all over the place size wise through out the series.
I think you may have to use a 1/2500 scale BOP. You can find them at Federation Models under the Gizmotron link. They are $20.00 there .

That's for sure. I'm pretty sure the starfleet RPG showed a few different sizes and classes of the BOP. Plus there was a romulan BOP. I want to say, based on screen shots from The Voyage Home, the larger AMT kit is probably closer in scale to the 1/350th refit than anything else.ZOMBIEREPELLENT said:

that 1/2500 might be exactly what you need.
I'll check out that 1/2500 scale model and see how close it will be with the 1701D.
