1/12 scale TOS BSG viper, 31 inches long...

Hey guys, I started to cast the engines separately at one point because they just come out a bit cleaner than the giant engine cluster. I will post a quick tutorial on how to put it together. For internal wing support all you should need is a little scrap of wood or renshape to back up the wing.

thanks
mike

Mike, thats okay, I just wish there were some kind of markings to know how to position the engines correctly and specially where to attach the wings

If you look at the 3 engine tubes that you got, there should be a centering line between the 2 detailed panels. The best way to imagine that is to start with the top engine, look at it as if from the front or back with each detailed panel as left and right. On the top engine that centering line would be perfectly centered and 90 degrees up from the centerline of the support structure that holds the 3 engines. Once that is in place you will really be able to see the orientation of the details in relation to the support structure.

I will get some measurements for you at to the orientation of the side engines soon and post some pics up.

What just occurred to me is that i can also make some support brace for the internal engines to back up the wing attachments. I need to send you those turbines, let me see if i can come up with something quick and i will cast up 3x and send them to you.

This configuration is the way that any future kits will be so i need to figure all this stuff out anyway. Right now i know that Jase want to get this pattern in addition to what he has already, but if that falls thru for some reason i may re release this at some point, if there is enough interest.

thanks
mike

Oh cool....that would be nice, I haven't even really looked at this kit a whole lot still trying to get a few done before jumping in it with my father to build the Viper.....timing is everything, and I don't have much time....LOL

I am planning a re release as soon as i can, i need to remold some key parts. I am going to make a couple of changes to the pattern, but more in the way it is broken down for casting as opposed to anything else.

Here is where I am so far

The engine block is different than in the first version and since there are no instructions,
I put some pics together: Colonial Viper

Thanks for posting that, it's looking great. I know that the newer configuration winds up being a few extra steps, but i think it winds up building up a bit cleaner.

The remold is going to do something similar with the "greeblie cones"/manifolds. A few of those oval greebies in there are prone to air bubbles the way i have them now, by separating them I should be able to almost eliminate that.

Thanks again for posting the instructional views
