You are a Machine mate, has this build started yet. Lee told me about your R2 when I saw him this week, I cant believe how many things you have on the go that are so amazing.
Good look with I'ds mate. |

Ahah yeah you got me... While I was making the pattern for the SD trenches, I thought it would be too bad to not build a Y-Wing with this 8 rad pattern... Now I'm caught with this one ! I start by trying to ID and collect the parts... and Ive started to do some drawings... Lesser being ? The guy who built working PD legs cant be a lesser being. I wish I could build one, maybe one day ! |

Welcome Julien, owed you for that PD find the other day, lifesaver.
Id love to build the Y, hull is such a pig to get right though, may have to wait for Steve to get moving on the new kit. Cant wait to see this begin. Lee |

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
Yeah, Ive started to draw the body, it's not easy at all (I used the 3D rendering made by Ron -Flinlock- to get a better idea of how it looks without all those greeblies !
). Fortunatly enough, there are big parts used on the body that help a lot... Tomorrow I'll finish the body drawings and will start the cockpit... It wont be as perfect as the one built by John C, but I wanted to use those kitparts that are used only on the Y-Wing ! I'm pretty sure Steve's (or better John C's) will be awesome, the pics Steve posted a while back show the accuracy of this new Y ! |

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
Wheeeeee....
Julien, I have the part in red coming from the Italeri 155mm Gun M1-A2 (kit No 232). Have the kit and it looks like the right part to me. Don't have the Airfix kit to compare, though. |

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
I know for a fact that Allan has that kit, because I cast the part to replace soft detail on a Y-Wing kit a couple of years back.... he will know!

Here's the Italeri kit part:
![]() and the kit: ![]() This version of the part looks like it's missing a couple of ridges on top, but that could be extra dressing. |

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
I think the Italeri is the correct part, but the Airfix is almost identical, and easier to locate.

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
Thanks guys !
Well the bad news is that I bought an Airfix 155mm for £42 yesterday and the Italeri one can be found for $10. ![]() Fortunatly that's only money loss, the kit itself is the same. Lee was correct, the Airfix, Italeri and Peerless Max 155 mm Howitzer are actualy the same kit. Thank you for the Panzer IV hint ! Any idea about the part of the wing on which are glued details ? (blue arrow) The red arrow, looks like hangar doors of a Hornet or Enterprise aircraft carrier ! Last edited by MonsieurTox; 04-22-2011 at 01:34 AM. |

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
Nice to see a new Y-wing thread. I'm looking to start my own but most of the ID threads are trashed, this will be great. Looking foward to your progress.

The purple arrow is from the 1:25 Centurion but maybe that's already known.

Re: Y-Wing parts ID help
Hi Julien,
The green arrow looks to be pointing at the Airfix 1/600 devonshire. Red arrow part I recall as being cut from the Tamiya 1/700 Enterprise/Hornet. The orange arrow grill is from the Airfix Handley Page 0/400 bomber which I've also noticed crops up on the underside of one of the 5' Falcon belly pits. Can't remember what the light blue arrow part is at the moment. Hope that helps Cheers Nick |
