Weird question about Icon's X-Wing base--

I THINK this is the right place for this thread, if not, let me know where to move it to.

Okay, so the Death Star base is the coolest thing about the ICON'S X-Wing model (IMHO). Now here's the question--

We all know recasting other people's work is bad, but ICON'S has been gone for a while now so why hasn't anyone recast the Death Star tile base?

You can totally use it for other SS X-Wing/W-Wing/A-Wing/ Whatever-Wing builds right? If I had one, I'd cast it up for people, but alas I don't. I just think the EFX X-Wing would look kick-ass sitting on that base.

Anyone out there have one? Thoughts on this?

I would check out the JY. Minifig is making Deathstar tiles that you could put together to make your own base, and in my opinion have more detail and are a better quality than the ICONS base. The AMT(?) TIE fighter model kit also comes with death star tiles that you could use too for a base. I also believe that Starshipmodeler.com was selling tiles. I believe the ICONS base is 14.5" x 14.5" incase you wish to make your own

The base of the x-wing I had had a lot of warping and distortion of the surface details. I've seen recasts of the base offered before, but since the original was already torqued so much, I wouldn't much care to have a recast, let alone an original. Minifig's are really accurate and well made from what you can see in the pics!

Steve neisen has the original icons base molds. That's why you shouldn't mold them .

Cant say id agree Simon, Steve may have the molds, but unless he has some kind of official LFL/Icons documentation to reproduce, its pretty much free fodder seeing as Icons are long gone. No offense to Steve of course.
As Scott mentioned though, they are pretty hoopty anyway and im sure better offerings are out there.
Of course, Steve may well have the rights to produce them, if so ill gladly stand corrected and humbled lol.

I know , I'd just be ticked off if I had bought the molds and someone started selling recasts. But as everyone said , they are pretty average and minifigs tiles are excellent.

Simon, i know where your coming from buddy, but ive seen these bases, along with the actual X wing from Icons on ebay sooo many times in recast form from the far east.....its Mission Impossible anyway bro.
