Nice clean cuts, too. Wanna do mine, LOL!!
Nice clean cuts, too. Wanna do mine, LOL!!
Allan, my elbow is aching like hell TBH, so i could get super clean cuts, the light passes i made with the Exacto, gave me a bit of a workout, reckon i could out jab Manny Pacqiuao tonite LOL.
Oh and i wish you would...do yours lol, be great to see you on this build Allan.
Its great to see you getting stuck into this. I can't help noticing that your middle window sections on the sides of the canopy are looking a bit wide?
The frontmost vertical support should always sit behind the trailing edge of the roof window. Your one has the spar sitting well forward of it.
When I did the canopy patterns I didn't follow the MR one too closely as ( to my eyes) it looks a bit 'chunkier' than the ILM version, possibly to aid in the manufacture of the parts out of polystone resin which is quite brittle. I'm sure you can make loads of improvements on what I've done but I would just re-check those side windows.
Looks great so far.
Nick, you, are dead right. I have to admit, id missed that, totally. Seems MR did mess with the plan, the overall canopy, front screen, top aperture, is closer to the ILM on the MR, all, but that blooming first bar spacing.
Luckily i havent wasted too much time, as i only trimmed it up to fit tonite, so ill go back, and see what i can do tweaking the MR scan.
Chris, cheers buddy, oh and i just read your PM, so ill hit you back in the morning, gonna get the little lady up to bed, she's flat been refusing to go to sleep....and Dad has had one hell of a day obeying her demands im beaten...by a ten month old.....she whupped my butt today .
I made a few hours for some work on the speeder cockpit this weekend, just needed it to start.
These are the new pilots, with the kit seat, and faux ABS armature pipe.
To make this work a LOT of hacking is involved, the kit seat is now reduced to only the seat back lol, its pretty tight in there, but, the prop doesnt have a lower seat pad, so its all good. Its all still rough cut, but, it all fits now, so i can get it refined in my own time.
Reckon another one weekend of commision round up, and i can attack this, along with my Gold Leader for a UK prop meet showing.
Bollox mate, these are shots taken on an easy jet flight, I'd recognise those seating arrangements anywhere.
can you still buy this kit ?
Love those pilots Lee. Bout time you got back to this eh?
those poor pilots, they were the misfortune of a horrible accident, impaled by a huge tube
Lambo, im not too sure, best to contact Steve, but be warned he is taking care of backorders on other kits and some health issues too.
Simon, yeah i know, just limited on time, but now ive almost wrapped up the PD arms, that limited time is a bit more free, but then i never did enjoy sitting for days on a model, i work at a pace where i NEVER rush stuff.
Soon as this cockpit is properly arranged, and bonded up, ill be not too far from painting, think ill hand brush the pilots first, they look fun.
OK, small update on the pilots. Im no figure painter guys, so this has been tricky for me, but here they are so far. Bit of touching up to do, then i need to age them somewhat and Dullcote.
A few markings arent quite right, i kinda painted them from memory of the pics, there close, and thats all that matters.
Main thing is its all paint, no cheating with helmet decals as it just looked wrong, there not perfect, but i did my best.
Looks sweet mate. I was gonna ask about the mo. I hate figure painting also. Would be so much easier if things just flew themselves.
Yea the flesh tone is killing them right now....they need some shadowing
and shading and they can be great. That's the problem with figures if they
don't look good they can kill an entire model, this is a big kit with no canopy
glass so their going to show. Seriously I wouldn't paint them yet I would strip
the paint off, paint the speeder first and weather it.Then just take your time
with them, when they kind of resemble the weathering on the speeder they
will blend in better and look more realistic.
Looking good, Lee. Nice helmet insignias and uniforms. Looking forward to the dull-down of the flesh and eyes...
Cheers guys, ive toned them down a lot now, just using greys and misting, its aged them well and took away the starkness. Eyes ill fix later, they just need toning down and the pupils adding.
I then need to cover all this up with some scratchbuilt amber visors, im really happy now TBH, so, pretty glad i didnt strip it all back off lol.
Ok waiting to see how they turn out! I remember you painted that predator
figure that was real good so sure you will get them.
Ill get pics up soon Michael, Card reader on the fritz tonite. Remember this though, these are NOT to represent a scale real world figure bud, there to replicate what are in the ILM prop, there crude, no Mona Lisa's here.
Bit of a cruddy iPhone pic, best i can muster right now, i think they should seal the deal once i sort the eyes and visors.
Yeah, you really nailed how they on the original!!
Just one big problem mate....He's starring at me and never blinks, a bit like my maths teacher at school.
Guy ill try find a way to making the eyelids move, innovation in this hobby is key LOL.
Better pics, and a redo on the eyes, they came out a tad anime lol, but i think once behind the amber visors, nobody will really care, unless counting spilled cocktail sticks really is your bag.
Gonna get the cockpit painted soon as the damp weather moves on, and get the base coat mixed.......really want to get painting on this.
TESB all the way baby....allllll the way!
The glint in the eyes is a nice touch. Nice ESB display Lee!
Good guys, wear black? Think i may get chance to get the basecoat on this today, fingers crossed and all that, ive got it mixed finally anyhoo.
