Thanks! Just kidding about that. Cool to see more than the usual donors used. It may lead to other finds on other studio scale subjects that still have missing IDs.
My lawyer is drafting up a credit on the find right now...will get back to you![]()
Scott my guy, will contact your guy. As for the 30mm, i NEED to go back on that ATST thigh part, with the hole in it? Sure i saw another close call on the sprue.

Derailing for a bit here: I think one of the hinges for the trailing arm of the italeri nebelwerfer also looks very close to that part. It has the same un-round outer edge to it. Here's the pic of it.
(Don't know if I brought it up before. I was just going over this part again the other day with Richard when I noticed a part he used on his republic cruiser build seemed like this part. It seems to be a bit too different though.)
The inner thigh piece is still one that I'm trying to figure out on the ESB at-st. Can't even figure out what part of a vehicle it might be yet. Such an odd shape.
I love what you guys are doing with this build thread. It is making sense out of a very complex prop (to me at least).
Scott, derail by all means, these are some of my favorite subjects. YES, i did too look at the 'werfer on that part, looks close, maybe a tad small, its a shame we have no more ref on it.
Ill go back to the 10/4 tomorrow and double check the part that stood out to me.
lee
Q no worries, its nice to talk SS parts anyhoo. I think Scott has the closest call by far, just wish a better pic existed.
Ive tried to play with the Gamma, even convert to negative, but it never gives me anymore than i already see.....dangit

Was mooching around the other day, found this pic of Richard Edlund, with both droids, and my nemesis the Rebel Transport lol.
Lighting in this shot is much brighter, and shows us, this droid really was very grey indeed.
Looking at Guys ref now, you can pick out areas where the brown retouch (as its now really apparent) still has patches of the original color, mainly, on the top of the head, and around some of the smaller eye domes.
Anyway, thought id ramble on lol, but its given me a bit more thought on how i want my final color to come out in Chronicles, she's very dark, darn artsy lighting lol.

Lee you've helped me a lot, to say the least, and Guy too, so it's a pleasure to help you a bit...the droid looks fab btw.

Awesome Guy (guys) Lee, nice work both of you!
I have not finished my Halftrack thingie part yet, so above shown is a great guide!
Nice work Guy, liking it.
Havent had the mood to do much today, but had to do something, so i started out on the top hat, and screwed up a couple of rivets, ill address that with some filler and re do, think i got the plating about right though, next up on the head are the rest of the eyes.
Decided id kick off the underskirt too, added the donors, there is an internal strip on the edge of the skirt, but its integrated into the chest box underside (which ive not fully built yet) so i left that for now.
Reckon by next weekend ill have this lot done, and i WILL get to those legs.

Ahh mate thats looking super cool, it really wont be long before your putting it in the case.
You really should start painting it asap it will give me something to look forward to whilst I'm away. Make sure you show the paint you used as well, and how you find it in different light.
I'm giving up with all the random little clean up bits on the head, you could chase your tale for ever with these things, its already like 50 times better than my first one so thats gotta be a good thing. Cant wait to see them both together, prob be Xmas though![]()
Looks incredible Ralphee! Is it me, or does the Probe droid from that ILM picture look like it has green in the paint,or is that the lighting?
Watching all this kit detection and refference is addictive stuff. And the progress looks superb. Lee and Guy, this really will be a "build bible thread" for anyone trying to recreate a probedroid. My thanks to you both for taking a break from it to provide me with the missing pieces for the Salzo X wing. It was much appreciated. I'll be doing it along with an Ewing I've just got from Frank. The casting on it was as great as you said it would be Guy. Can't wait to see that Probedroid finished and added to your fantastic collection- regards Cut.
No problem mate, Lee was the beginning, middle & end to the X parts so all the thanks goes to him mate, but your more than welcome mate.
I have been reading this great thread and I am speechless at the abilities of everyone involved. I know you guys hear it a lot but from someone who is wanting to create one of these at a future date my hat, shoes, socks are off to you.
Also helping others by listening and telling your steps is something I am learning about this place that is great as well.

Guy, ill be playing with colors soon, its going to cost, theres a bit i want to try, soon as i do, ill post it up buddy. Thanks too, for keeping me on my toes with this one.
As for having them side by side one day, ah, hell yeah.
John, no green buddy, grey all day, think its the lighting, but in Chronicles, you can make out (i think its Lorne) shooting what seems to be a Testors, or Pactra rattle can at the head......cant recall Pactra ever having white labelling though?
Cut, most welcome buddy, i was helping out a good friend, who was helping out a good friend, its what its all about, thanks for the kind words though sir.
James, thanks man, its been a while since i had a bit of fire to get into something, with the pure intention of reaching the finish line....whenever that may be.
lee
