Thanks for posting those wiring pics db, I was wondering how I was going to run the wiring if I ever get started on this kit. Love your blog too. I like how you added the brass piping

Re: Studio Scale Cylon Raider

Here it is with the last bit of the dark weathering and the dusting applied without clear coat. The dusting effect really pulls all the colors together. It's got the aged look that I was after and is starting to look like it had gotten used and abused as a filming model.

I'm pretty happy with it at this point.

This one shows the bottom with the dusting applied only on the left side.

Here's with both sides done.

Re: Studio Scale Cylon Raider

I started taking some pics with a backdrop and better lights...not to mention a better camera. I'll be doing more in a few days with the lights turned and other angles.

Amazing. It looks like the real thing.

What did you use as reference for the paint scheme?

Was the dusting air brushed or dry brushed?

Re: Studio Scale Cylon Raider

The paint and weathering were inspired by the photos of this studio model...see 3rd post down ByYourCommand.net • View topic - Raider Colors/Markings?.

The dusting was done with dry pastel chalk powder (a mix of cream, white, and grey) and applied dry with a big soft watercolor brush. I was trying to fix that in place with dullcoat but it disappears when I do this so the pigment is literally just sitting there on it like dust.

Hi Gary, I was wondering if the panel lines in the hero Raider were etched in or drawn on? It's hard to tell from some the photos I've seen, but my bet is etched.

Gary
Thanks for the kind words, Gary. I don't think I'll be making any changes to it at this point but I appreciate the offer.
