EXCELLENT Mark! With both you and Salzo on the job,... the public has a definite treat in store!

EjIMBO..... DUUUUUUUUUDE! Kewl Pic! I think my space bar is now acting up from my drooling!

That said...

...I am actually surprised how these REAL pieces are displayed. Don't get me wrong,..they look GREAT in their display and lineup. I was just surprised to see them displayed the open air like that... and in a corner! LOLOLOL I think I actually gasped a bit...lolol. Truth be told, I have items displayed in the same fashion! LOLOL. It must be the mark of a collector with space limitation! I well know that feeling as I know most everyone here does! LOLOLOL. I just need to make the time and make the building happen. I think it'll be forced upon me soon enough...lol.

I would enjoy meeting this collector, Gary, sometime in the future. He is a very lucky guy! I am TOTALLY JEALOUS!!! LOLOLOLOLOL... And I would LOVE to see what else is not shown in the picture! :P

Drool Drool Drool... I think I'd better get a towel and place it on my desk for all this drooling! LOLOLOL

Okay, there's the last of it, seeming that too many people are too stupid to know how to interpret anything and trash all the wrong people.

I really wish Gary would join the boards and post himself instead of communicating through third parties on

One, I bid 15k on the Base Star when it was on EBay and before I increased the bid I asked the seller some questions. He had been gone for the weekend and felt bad he did'nt answer the questions on time. So, he made the offer of seeing it and photographing it. I never said I was your friend Gary rather I knew you, and that you and I didn't see eye to eye on many things. I offered Ed lots of kit info on the Base Star including a CD of all the picts I shot for him to see in adavance what condition it was in.
If this is misleading then I'm sorry. That is how it went down. Actually, Bill had asked me not to associate his name with it outside of the people that were hands on with it for reasons concerning a certain person that tried to stir up trouble for us. This is the simple but plain truth.

I said nothing about your friends Gary. I had conveyed the story about you as told by a mutualy known person. You blew your top because of that. You know Gary, after I found the part for the Colonial MOvers and offerd you the info, Jon later found the parts and I assembled them for you so as to complete the CM restoration with info you nor Ed had. I even gave Ed info for the Base Star. And missing parts parts for the Gemini. I asked nothing in return. I was only trying to help restore the models for the sake of archiving.

You know Jim, you seem to have an axe to grind with me still, leave it to private e-mails or PM's. Gary could of joined or contacted a mod to post this.

Hijacking threads is not a good practice.

Now, as I said in an earlier post, Ed was restoring it. And I know by his work he was doing the best job possible with what he had to work with. It was a mess.

Gary, I'm glad you are now willing to explore a site to show case the miniatures. Not to sound rude but it's about time. Even Geroge Lucas shows his off
And I did not "aquire" any photos. I shot them all with his permission. And he was told I was going to be making a replica and a kit. He even expressed interest in one.

What is the problem with me posting picts I took of the Base Star, with the permission of the owner, at his home, By his invitation. And two other friends were allowed to acompany me. Hell, we all went to diner and discussed how a replica could be made. And if a kit could be made.

This is not going to stop the kit being produced nor is it going to stop the photos I select to share.

Now, if YOU want to be the first to share photos of the Base Star, then go for it. BUt I have already posted a few so...

And Gary could of called me or e-mailed as well. Chris has that contact info.

Back to the patterns!

Peace!

Negativity is something I don't enjoy and sometimes needs to be stated.

Well,.. as all in this world today... ownership (or relative ownership) seems to be the thing always holding progress back. And with argument of point that is only backed up by the greed of it all.

I come across this much and have learned that the people most wishing to keep their secrets and items personal are the first to break their own trust in releasing or showing their info or items they wished kept to themselves. (Because we can all trust one another, right? Especially those around us?) Then,.. after realeasing such info (because it is to be kept quite,.. so don't tell or show anyone else,... )the responsibility is then tranferred to the person they let the info slip to,.. and so on,.. and so on.

I have learned one thing in my professional and personal lives. I NEVER show or tell ANTHING to ANYONE that I don't want known. Everything I write, say, or show has truth and a purpose to share that truth.

Trust only really can go as far as ourselves.

Now,.. I am not on anyone's side, nor will I ever be, except the the side of truth. 'Free Will' makes it possible for the appearance of more than one truth, but really,.. there is only one.

So let's get there shall we?

Oh,.. please make sure not to tell or show anyone I stated all of this. It is a secret. Shhhhhhhhhhhh.

What a world of FUN, eh?

If you want to keep something to yourself,.. don't let the info out of the bag.

One more thing. Most EVERYBODY believes themselves to be HONORABLE. Even those who know they do dishonorable deeds.

I am very much looking forward to this kit.

Class over. Have a great summer!

Registration is closed so Gary couldn't have joined to post that himself anyway.

However, the message could have been delivered by PM or email. EjIMBo, please use that method from now on.

Anyway, eventually I will be posting a website where all of you can view
the many original models I currently own from TOS Battlestar Galactica and
Buck Rogers. Approximately 30 in all and I'll try to do my best to give the
miniatures justice at the same time give fellow BG fans a chance to see them
again.[/b]
Well, I for one am looking forward to this website.

BTW, Happy Easter everyone.

Yep, I knew I'd get the blame for this, despite my even writing the salient parts of my message in RED so hopefully even an idiot would get the point.

Treadwell, Gary ASKED me to post it on this forum. That's why I did it. Leave me out of it. Don't shoot the messenger.

And Mark, scub the "axe to grind" crap.

Don't worry, I won't be anybody's messenger ever again. Let others speak for themselves.

Gary, if you're reading this... See? I told you so. Please don't ask me to do this again?

I know you didn't author it, eimb1999. But you had a choice whether to post it, unless Gary had a gun to your head. As a member of this forum you are responsible for what you post, red disclaimers or no. You are not "out of it".

Let's make this the last of it, folks...

Thanks Treadwell.

Now, I should be able to show the base struture and some of the patterns being fit with in the next couple weeks. My partner is gathering up the disks and tube and will be delivering them some time soon :P

We also have a Cylon Tanker in development and was water cut at the same time the disks were. Those parts as well as the disks for the Base Star are .250 thick acrylic

Happy Easter to all!

Everything that should have been said has been....
However, I feel that I need to say my peace about this as well though.
People that have long standing..deep running grudges...should not bring them out on the forums.
They need to keep their opinions and..."Conspiracy Theories"... to them selves. Or at least reside them to PMs.
Well said Kurt of your opinion, and well said Treadwell. Jimbo did have a choice and he chose to post so it does rest with him and not who asked him to post it.
Now let's all just get along and concintrate on the very cool project on hand here.

Oh, and Kurt..... could you PM me...... I have a question about your Desanto Viper.

Good work Mark. Keep it up. Doin' good. Keep them pictures comin'. Stop wasting time to update this thread. Get to work. (Well, take some time to update the thread I suppose).

Try not to make this thing cost anywhere near the billion Triton says it should. If it does, I hope you have a lay-away for old friends. Even so, a billion may take me awhile to get the thing out!

Mark:

I have some experience with laser cutting of plexiglas and have heard of using very high pressure water to cut just about anything, including steel, but what is the advantage of using the water method over the laser for studio scale parts ?

SSR, no advantage. I just couldn't find a laser cutter with a big enough table and the watage to cut .250 acrylic.

Coby, I could of used it The disks are 36" water cutting was the only option at the time.
Plus they are local so shipping is not an issue for say 20 or 40 disks

The cutter can only go 4" per minute. That would run for days!

On the Gary thing. He wishes to remain pretty quiet for now and would like to stay off the boards for the most part he's not into the attention this hobby draws etc. I actually received an email from him wondering why I even mentioned the Basestar so to keep him happy please don't chase him down.

I agree Lee, leave Gary alone. His collection is his and he owes no one anything. I personally would like to see him do the George Lucas thing and tour them. I think he could make some money and make a lot of BSG fans happy seeing it's the 30th anniversary BUT, and I say BUT, that is HIS collection and HIS decision to make and no one should ride him to show them or supply pictures. He knows what we all would like, trust me. He has been asked enough times. Just be happy that these models are safe, and have been restored and are still around. Some were almost destroyed and some were in such bad shape before Gary was able to obtain them. It took a lot of time and money and there for I respect his request so let him have his privacy.

Coby, OMG what is the wattage of the laser? The water cutting worked fine I'm told.

25 watts. It's very low power. But I can really do subtle work with it.

Coby,
I've seen your work It's very nice My friend Will, Firefoxm31, uses a 25 watt laser for all my cutting, vector scribing and rastering. I draw them, he cuts them

I agree as well. If he doesn't want to have the attention and admiration that would come from doing a tour or what ever for the fans..then we should respect his wishes and leave it at that.

As for the miniatures from BSG..... and their well being....
I just re-watched the old Roger Corman movie "Battle Beyond The Stars" . And I beleave I saw the Celestra from the fleet in there..re-made as Sador's (John Saxon) battleship. The front end looked like it was the same from BSG, but the back end had been completely rebuilt.
And.....it was physically blown up at the end of the movie.
Goes to show you how little the effects guys and the studios thought of their property back then.

Any way..... back to the Basestar.
