Hey all, it's been awhile since I've been able to get anything done on Kong but am finally getting a start on the sculpture. I'm going to do certain parts of Kong separately, namely the hands and the head and when those are done I will attach them back onto the armature and then begin tackling the rest of the body. I pretty much have the left hand finished so I'm now going to begin blocking out the head, here's where the fun begins! I'm going to attempt to make both the round face and long face versions available, so I'm going to start with the round face Kong. Stay tuned!
Thats my hand mate, looking great.
Just threw some clay on the skull today and started pickin at the face, the blocking of the head has begun.
Hey Jim, it's taking shape. I love that hand, too, and the articulation looks like it will be amazing...
picked at it some more today
lookin' good, Jim.
RKW, both puppets were used in the film.
Treadwell is correct, the puppet on the left is the long faced Kong used in the T-Rex fight and log roll scene.
I would definitely be interested in a stop motion puppet replica of Kong circa 1933.
Just now stumbled on this thread...
What a terrific project. Looking forward to following your progress, and more than interested in participating should you offer these.![]()
Thanks guys! I'm putting your names on a potential customer list.

finished the blocking of the face and added some detail
Well, it's been quite awhile, but I'm finally getting back to working on this. Just getting started with blocking out the body and legs, stay tuned.......
Finished the blocking, now time to start refining and smoothing out and begin the detailing of the face, chest pecs, and feet.
Smoothed out and fine tuned the body proportions, added detail to the chest pecs, next will be to start fine tuning and detailing the face
