Simon... no worries man.. Ive got a photographer going in two weeks with a super megapixel camera.. Looks like one of the stop motion AT-AT's is on display... not the poorly cast one everyone has seen but one of the real film used ones... I'll make sure he spends special attention to what your looking for...

Great pics, EvilRocketeer. This tour's next stop is Kansas, in May. It's not exactly close to NY, but it's a cheaper flight for me!

I'll be going then to take boat loads of photos. Someone needs to capture this bottom tube on the Falcon!

I went yesterday. I did take a few pictures of the sandcrawler and the imperial probe droid. Below are samples, you can find additional and higher resolution pictures in my Flickr gallery.

Re: Star Wars Exhibit back in Southern California

For those that have been to both SoCal engagements, have there been any additions or deletions?

For example, I don't see the Bockade Runner in Michael's pisc.

Brad, have you gone yet?

I was at both, and I don't really notice anything different--but then my interests are nearly as broad as some people. For the record, the blockade runner is at the current show, and you can just barely see it in the pic above that shows the MF from underneath looking at it directly from the right side, in the background (I think it's the 19th pic in the more recent of his posts above.

You can see the Blockade Runner in this photo, too. It's on the far left, way in the back. Not a photo to help you detail your own, but proof it's there. As in the movie, the SD is headed right for it. Michael didn't take photos because he didn't want to get caught in the cross fire

Re: Star Wars Exhibit back in Southern California

Thank you! I was at the exhibition when it was up near USC a few years back. The current one is just 20 minutes from me now. I'll need to head back. Probably this weekend.

I don't recall - do they all flash photography?

The blockade runner is at the exhibit in one of the back cases. I didnt really take that many pictures of it. I couldnt get a decent angle. The glare and lighting makes it hard to take decent pictures in some areas.

I think flash photography is okay. I took tons of pictures. Some with and without flash, and none of the guards said anything about it. My camera worked better with the flash off.

Either way, GREAT photos!!!

Re: Star Wars Exhibit back in Southern California

Saw this with my son when it was in LA.

The Discovery Science Center was one of his favorite places when he was a little-little kid- He's 16 now, so we're gonna have to go this year for sure.

This makes me want to find a Sandcrawler kit to buy and build.

Likewise... My boy is now 12, but we're going tomorrow.

Anyone know if the crowds are still large/lines long...?

Last week, the lines were moderately long--20 minutes or so to get tickets--so I'd get them online, but I don't know if the separate ticket for the exhibit can be had online. The line to get into the exhibit gets long enough to stretch through the whole place, but since you have a set time, when they start letting people in, you will get in within about 10 minutes once they let your time in, and they don't rush you out, so getting in 10 minutes late doesn't cut your time down once you're in. And in case you don't know, there is a separate exhibit outside that costs even more money (the main exhibit is inside the main building). I waited in line at the place outside for about 10 minutes before someone set me straight about where the real deal is. You know you're going a SW exhibit, there's a big extra building outside that is obviously for SW, I wasn't the only one who made that mistake. My other mistake was actually paying to get in. My wife told me later that as a teacher, I get in for free. So I'll be going back soon.

So this extra exhibit outside is not worth it?

Re: Star Wars Exhibit back in Southern California

I dunno about the one outside. It's called the Millennium Falcon Experience and I think you sit in a cockpit mock up and go into hyperspace or something. Also, I saw something about a MF model in there. Since the 5-footer is in the main exhibit, I guess the other model might be the 32-incher. Has anyone else been in there?

Re: Star Wars Exhibit back in Southern California

Oh christ if the 32-incher is there I'm going right back...

It is indeed the Falcon cockpit experience, which I passed on last time, as well as today.

The 32-inch Falcon was not at this exhibit three years ago, and everything else is pretty much identical. Took loks of pics, but haven't downloaded them yet. Just got back.
