Wow. This is coming along nicely.
Wow. This is coming along nicely.
3D Builder, what an incredible build and I am so glad I read all 5 pages. At least now so many questions and ideas I had about what is actually possible with Vac Forming have been answered.
How many Vac Forms have you got? I guess making really small ones make for economical forming.
You are the Jedi master of vac-former, no doubt.
Have you ever, or if not, could you make some instructional videos on vac-forming because you seem to have excellent equipment and just fantastic results.
Or at least point a novice in the right direction as far as making my own equipment is concerned. Video if possible, then i can watch and build at the same time, + i'm just to lazy to read
Mr. Gaggles McGee
Thanks guys much appreciated....
Figuring out the wing and getting it in there.....
and then some supports in the neck to run some
sort of tube for fiber and wire coming out of the cockpit.
Using a spare pull to make a template for a station.....
NIce progress Michael, looks great!
thats going to be pretty big. video's, we want video's
That looks mint mym8?i think i`ve just sex wee`d
Thanks guys I started over on this again ....:
Junked the main body parts have to make new ones.....it was
just all wrong but did salvage the cockpit.....it was over sized
enough to tweak it into something close.
Wasn't going to post pics getting a little gun shy about
starting over but hey it me.....I am pretty shameless .....
Al .......you better not say a word!
So this is what I was able to salvage and reshape as
far as the cockpit...canopy needs to be reshaped.
Then I have a canopy with a big ass gap issue!
So I put some aluminum foil over the part and decided
to gap it with some clay.
Mashing out the extra clay...
Trimming away the extra clay...
Gap gone.... It's probably gonna be to high now
thats ok I can take it off the top.
Peeling away the aluminum foil.......nice and smooth
I went ahead and vacuum formed the cockpit......
Trimming away the sides and back.....
I made the cockpit a little longer so I
could cut it back to get the curve at
So that's it for now.....gonna get the canopy done and mounted
then I will do the panel lines and then add the sides and back section.
starting over ?? i think you like punishing your self
great work though !!
Keep the updates coming Micheal! Id like to see this one done!
i cant wait to see you finish this
Really looking forward to seeing this one complete. Looks like it's coming along nicely so far.
hellooooo......i can hear crickets
Hey Jerry working on making a 2 part mold for the canopy......1st time for everything!
If there aint no pics it never happened!
yaaa....what he said ^^
Thanks guys...... Gag i will check out that video.
Ok I got the canopy buck cleaned up and ready to form.
I had some sanding to do and shaping as well.
Now for some vacuum forming.......
Next the mold........
Big shout out to Al who answered a million text messages......this was
going to be my first mold and a 2 part one at that! Could have never done it
with out his help and patience!!!
Canopy clayed in....
Keys in mold box.....
Trench around part to keep resin from leaking out.
1st half of mold.....
1st half done.....
Digging out the clay getting ready for the second half
of the mold.
Second half I forgot to remove the keys .....LOL
Oh well so i have plastic ones instead of silicone ones...
Some pour tubes...
2nd part of mold poured...
The two halves......when i looked at the two halves I was like......
"No way in hell this is gonna work!" LOL
Ok here it is.......
I chunked the front of the canopy removing it from the mold
that was my fault but I am keeping it.....nothing a little apoxie
sculpt won't fix the rest of the canopy was perfect.
mike, thats looks great
