started on the hydraulic lifter for the main engines. had some parts laser cut and started to assemble them. also need to lathe a few internal parts for this. I havent decided if im going to mold this as one piece like the the studio or separate it and then just glue the main parts.

so far ive been building for a year. but i only get to work on it some nights and weekends. i work a full time job and do this on the side.

but wanted to pass along this little trick for casting from an old mold. we have a few molds at work that are old and probably should be re done but well no time right now. they still release fine. but even thought there keyed they just dont stay together like they should. and it leaks ( i should mention its a 3 part mold). well theres a little trick i learned from a guy at the studio when i was out there. never had a chance to use it until today. put a little vaseline on the mold were the halves contact each other. make sure not to get any where the resin will be. it adds just enough stiction. yeah thats a word. to allow the resin to not leak out. and 3 parts later and im good to go.

Ok, Almost finished with this Part. still have to lathe out the hydraulics and add a few kit parts but its almost there. a little sand and reprime and another one to mold. heres a bunch of pics

Is this your largest build so far? If you built something larger, what is it? Do you think you'll build anything bigger than this?

I think i'm going to be going back through this build as I'm looking for ideas on how to make moveable parts on a project. It's still a gorgeous build.

Will be very interested Al in seeing how such a complex shape like that will be molded .
