    May 23, 2011 - Snowspeeder pilots. #1

Just wanted to show this guy off. Me and a good friend had him commisioned a while back from a very talented sculptor.
They will be replacements for the recent resin kit, as the pilots provided werent quite up to snuff accuracy wise.
Hoping to get the first casts soon, so i can carry on with my build.
Sculpt still needs a bit of finishing, but the likeness to the original pilot is very, very good indeed.

    Hey Lee,

Very good~! It seems to be nearly the pilot of prop.

What is it really impossible for you?

    thanks Eric.

Just wanted to post these pics of the totally new pilot sculpt. Dan felt the original wasnt quite hitting the mark, so started all over, and came up with this, so much closer to the ILM figures, and a great job by Dan.
Ill leave Dan to fill in what happens next, but guys that wanted accurate pilots for a scratch, or NiceN/Salzo kit...this is the place to be.

Not sure Simon, hopefully sooner than later, me and a good friend paid for the sculpt to be done, then its going on to the guy with the rubber, so soon as all is laid out, you guys will be the first to know.

No worries man,but the thanks goes to the talented man with the clay, and the super fella that could cast a Gnat lol.
As you can see, its short torso's only, so fitting a real, or fake armature rod for them to rest on is easily done, makes it that bit more faithful, i really cant wait myself, be nice to jump back on my own build right after the droid.
Its going to be nice to see some more speeder's around here soon .

Guy, I look forward to the a-wing pilot. When you are ready let me know. The snowspeeder pilot is in the hands of the mold maker. Lee waited a while for his pilot and was very patient with me, thanks Lee. The pilot ended up being about 1/8 scale, just a little larger then the cloud car pilot.
This pilot was made to match the filming model. Would anyone be interested in a "real world" looking pilot for this kit? If so, I'd probably make Luke and then an alternate generic head or face for a second pilot or even for other ships.
