You can roughly see in this pic that i've lost a lot of the rear hull-skirt plate, ther are a couple of ways around this but it would sacrifice the profile view of the hull and the angle that goes from tail to nose on the top of the hull. So I'm stuck with it this way, I've had worse.
Thankfully I made a couple of decisions at the very start that have paid off or I would not be able to carry on.
This just held together with the rear plate, no fixings or tape...a good sign that I can get it somewhere near solid.
The trouble with this is its not designed to be a kit in vac form, its just vac forms. You have to work it out as you go along, cut using ref and it dont fit, cut to the pulls and it dont look right!!! A lot of time just thinking is a good way of building one of these
Oh, and ignore those panel lines on the skirt, thats v.1 and v.2 at the same time

A thought!
Rich, I think the skirt needs around an inch taking off the height of the curve, however! I've had to use the thicker (plating) pull for my skirt so its a pull over a pull which has enlarged it, saying that the first pull is only about 1mm at best
Good idea to use the thicker pull for the main skirt part gives you a little more
meat to scribe into and support also. 1mm is to thin for that entire skirting it holds all the weight of the model ......if you have a armature your ok if you don't you probably won't be. Even so when the bottom detail area goes in it will connect everything and add some strength ......me personally I would have formed it in something a bit thicker, even if that threw it off a tad bit.Plastic is fine but this thing is probably best in fiberglass parts. It's looking good ...looking like Slave-1 in the last picture.![]()
ITs hard to explain, even harder to know if I even know what I'm talking about as I could have made my hulls too small or too big
The big obvious thing too me is the height of the curve, its naturally a very compound radius, although too curved at its highest point, on my build if the curve was around 1 inch lower at its highest point then it would visibly be closer to the prop, possible a bit less at 3/4 inch![]()
I took a picture of one of my pulls. I then scaled against a ref picture of Slave that I found somewhere on line. I changed the layer mode to overlay so we can compare the two. The green line is a trace of the outer limit where I can cut the pull. I lined the two images up where the arrows point.
This is a quickie job, taken with my phone camera and eye balling the angles. Working from pictures, yada yada, Slave I is a monster...so hard. Guy you are doing an amazing job.
I am still hopeful that we can figure out a good way to trim them to line things up. Hope it helps.

Great work Scott but I have to say that lens distortion is on nearly every pic I've seen of the Beast, including the one above, although one of the better ones its still quite apparent.
If you eye ball the plate that sits on the rear hull with the Karl part at the top (in the middle of the pic above) the actually kit part looks nothing like the shape it is in ref when cut correctly.
Please take this advice, Just make it work as best you can, if you want it to be like all the ref pics you will be a very frustrated man. When you trim the skirts what ever you do DO NOT cut away the centre flat section on either skirt. If you do you ****ed !
As rough Idea
The front hull is approx 3/4 the length of the rear.
the gap between skirts where the wings sit is aprox 7cm
I would strongly recommend the central join between hulls be perfectly vertical, so you need to cut the the hulls with the slight angle rear to Front in mind. If your centre join is at 90 degrees to the top of the hull it will be a PITA to fit and you will loose any decent side profile.
I'm not sure but I think the the wing well pulls are too big also (a guess) this will have a big impact on the skirt position and any trimming.
So you know my rear hull as it is now has the loss of length at both ends rather than just one, it works better this way.
Do you know what parts was used in the flakvierling and Karl for the cockpit? And what are some of the other kits used
Yes thanks
Dont mean to sound a bit off here but I only ever here from you when you need kit part info. I sent you a load of info and help re your B-wing and you never bothered to reply.
I'd shown interest in your post about the skirt as it looked like you may be building one..so I asked, are you building one? Please share your work Slave 1 builders united etc etc
No reply?

Hello, my name is Guy. I'm trying my best to build a Slave 1 model, many people have put years of effort and money into making this work. To this day not one finished Slave 1 has surfaced, even after all the amazing efforts of all involved.
I would like to change that fact..........
A tip for those that are new to TheRPF
Try using works like
Hello
Please
Would it be possible
I'm looking for and cant find
Thanks
Much appreciated
Thats great news
I know I'm cheeky but........
I need some help with my build.
I'm struggling to find these parts, I've got some Id'd if you need any info
I'm also building a ......... and could do with advice
I'm also building a .......... and have nailed it all, does anyone need any help?
Think of it like a woman,... I'd like to think you wouldn't sit in a restaurant on a first date, not say a word all night then just randomly say " sex now"

Guy, the manners left this forum a long time ago.
Hurts to say, ive always been that guy to give whatever i could, to help a bro, those days are gone now, ive had to wisen up, and harden up, as i think many here, werent raised like us my good friend!
Lee
thanks for directing me to the right person to complete the b-wing. as far as i am not building one as of yet but I am really interested in any slave 1 builds here on the rpf.
1. I am not trying to steal any info
2. I just find interesting to watch and ask ?s like a child to learn about the kit bashing builds
but guy i do appreaciate all help that you and all the other talented builders here, And like to learn about all the kit bashing star wars models, what kit bashing builders do to hunt and find these parts are the greatest and like I said I love to watch these threads.
You know more than anyone Lee, I'm not shy in asking for help. Its not about that though, like you say...its manners are lack of them thats starting to get to me. I dont really know are good friend who needs help but the way its asked really makes you think...SOD OFF!
Now I will always take into consideration language barrier's or even illness but if your planning to, or have started, or have finished a studio scale slave 1 then you know how to use google translate. I cant speak fluent English let alone any other language but I still have the courtesy to try and delve into a bit off politeness now and again.
No doubt I'll wake up tomorrow and there will be a raft of Slave build pics from other members...bouncing idea's off each other and comparing notes....
sometimes "SEX NOW" does work.
but its the rare occasions.
