I'm relatively new to studio scale modeling and had a question that maybe some of the experts will be able to answer. What is the chance that Master Replicas will get around to doing a model of Slave One? I've been thinking about getting a Code 3 Slave One as it is pretty nice. But I'd hate to spend a couple hundred bucks to find out that MR will be offering a Slave One a couple years down the road.

    That is a good question.

I think a Studio Scale Slave One is inevitable,.. be it by MR or some other faction.

I have the Code 3 sitting on my desk.... it is a nice piece to have regardless of it's scale. I was actually surprised to find how large it really is!

The bigger question is WHICH version of Slave One will be produced?

That would, indeed, be great news!

OK.. here come the grilling questions.... lol....

Would this be first hand knowledge or something heard third person? This would definitely be exciting!

Do you know which version they would be doing? Jango or Boba? And what scale?

I haven't seen or heard (or remember) anything on this,... would it be scheduled for an 07 release?

I know, I know.. premature questions,.. but I have to try! :P

    Definitely worth a try.

So, should I splurge on a Code 3 or hold out hopes that an MR will be coming sometime in the future???

I think the Code 3 is a nice piece to have regardless, but I will be on top of any Studio Scale piece offered if it is. To awesome to pass up! :P

Since it is unknown at this time if it actually IS going to be done... I believe (from a collector standpoint) that the Code 3 will quench your thirst just fine. It did mine!

It is ultimately a decision you will have to be OK with whatever you do. It always becomes a "Murphy's Law" type of thing with me! LOL. Whichever way I turn, the other way sprouts a more grand solution! LOL.

I would hope that MR would do ships that have been neglected first. I probably couldn't pass up a SS B-Wing fighter. That is my favorite.

They should do an X-Wing and Tie Fighter before the Slave One.

Thinking more on this subject,.. I tend to agree with Coby. Plus I have heard somewhere that they are POSSIBLY planning an X, a TIE and a Vader X-1 TIE. Though as far as I am concerned (and also known to all),.. The X's are covered with Salzo and the TIE's with Neisen. The Vader TIE seems to be covered with Kelley, though I would love to still see it a bit more accurized as we saw in the posts of Jerry's thread.

The SS TIE Interceptor and the SS TIE Bomber?... haven't seen any yet, but have heard of their possible creations.

The SS-B,... Frank and Moe have that covered in my book. It's just a waiting/production thing now I think. But as Frank has stated toward my excited wantings,... ONE THING AT A TIME!!!! LOL. If MR does one before that time?... I may end up giving in to them too being that the B is what I am really wanting as well.

I don't understand why it's taken so long for someone to step up to the plate on that B beastie, but I'm not a master like you guys and don't fully understand the details involved in it's creation. I do know, however, the basics of time and material and also know what I would pay.

The B-Wing is VERY HIGH on my yearning list!

So... getting back to the Slave One? I am content with the Code 3... for now. :P

rmschneider104... Sorry to ramble ....I hope this helps ya in some way in your decision. I would love to hear what that decision is?!

Do you guys really think people would invest in an X-wing again?

It's been done so many times and by so many people.

I ask only out of personal curiosity.

I think it depends on price and execution. But a nice crisp Tie Fighter would be nice. No offence to those kits that are out there. But MR would do a great job with them if they wanted to.

Maybe it would depend on the X wing and the price, there are a lot of folk going the maxi brute route as they feel the CC hull is too skinny, if MR were to rectify this and gove those builders what they want then maybe, but at what cost? A slave one would go down a storm as its a ship so many people love. A TIE bomber is one i doubt would do so well as its been done three times in some form of studio scale already i guess. Maybe diversity is the key, Like an escape pod, or a Lambda shuttle, but again at what cost. Going by what MR and the certain members involved with the falcon achieved, MR can write there own ticket if they get the quality and subject matter right.

Hmmmm..hard to say with all the flack over the CC kit and generalization of the Maxi-Brute. The Icons ended up being a roll of the dice with most and looked pretty decent. I know of something in the works right now and I will be going with that, but I am sure that if MR did an X,.. that it would sell if marketing excitement and anticipation were created around it. Not all that buy are masters themselves so having a quality piece pre-made is always the way to go for most collector's that can afford it. Question is... how many would that be?

^ After the Slave One of course.

    The Sandcrawler is both:

    1. An unusual subject.

    2. Might possibly have a fair degree of demand if offered.

Another possibility would be a full scale MSE droid. Small. Realistically scaled at even 1:1. And a little sound board inside the replica could have stored on it a variety of MSE vocabulator sound effects.

Hmmm, yeah, Sandcrawler sounds good! There is also the Landspeeder and Jabba's Sail Barge!

Hmmm, even a big model of the cloud city would be a nice piece to own!

ALL great points and pieces that deserve to be made.

I am left to wonder how their popularity (as in the stated pieces) would effect their sales?

Personally,.. I would buy them, but I seem to be of different opinion than some other collectors and/or masters.

I would love to see a thread started on which SS pieces (or other scaled pieces) people would want to see offered! :P I am certain there are many on the list for many. Hmmm...which forum would that best be placed?

Sandcrawler is out of the country until something like 2010, right? - so that's probably not going to happen from MR anytime soon. Slave 1 would be a slam dunk if it was Boba Fett's version. If it was Jango, I think it'd be a poor seller, but because of Code 3, the Slave 1 might be seen as redundant. X-Wing would sell well, and MR could make all sorts of variants with the same general tooling. TIE would sell well, especially if they replicated the Kool Shade material in some injection plastic wings. Vader TIE would also do well, I think, and it's not too large. AT-ST is a crapshoot as I don't think too many people "crave" it, and I think the Lambda Shuttle is probably too big to make money on, in the quantity that a licensed company would have to produce. B-wing and A-wing fighters woudl be killer, but they're secondary vehicles, and common sense tells you that the vehicles driven/flown by major characters woudl be the strongest products.

Landspeeder. THAT is what I want to see, heh.

Gotta disagree with you there Jason....a studio scale Slave1 is no match for a Code3 thing. I have seen the Code# and it cannot compare with a studio scale Slave1.

I think it would be an awesome piece to be able own.

And the Landspeeder.....well anything Tatooine is near and dear to me.

LOLOL... I find it funny how picky everyone is with their own opinions of items out there...lol. As with all things,.. there will never be full agreement with everyone! LOL...

Indeed the Code 3 is in no way near to what a perfect SS would be, but... at this time it is the only option aside from a styrene kit that I know of. It is not a bad piece by any means,... plus it tides me over just fine until a great SS can be done. It is a very nice desktop piece.

There are many ships to be replicated and I doubt that anything notable will be overlooked in the future. If they are overlooked,.. changing that fact is what all you guys are great at! Just build one! LOL

Thanks for all the replies, folks. Personally, over time, I think that there would be enough demand for an X, TIE, Vader TIE, and a Slave One. I especially think that an ESB Slave One would be a slam dunk.

As for getting a Code 3, I think I am going to still hold off for a bit. Maybe MR will surprise me and make it worth my wait. That is, unless, I stumble upon one for a killer price.

I do love the idea of a 1:1 mouse droid. That's pretty creative.
