Aw, man, that's a lovely start, J. Can't wait to see what you do with this.

And don't get me started about people letting you down. You gotta have friends, but be careful with "friends." And in my experience there's nothing better than good ol' self-sufficiency and initiative in this hobby. Of course, you're not lacking in either, IMO.

These are too thin, you can tell from pics - but they're test pulls, to gauge accuracy (hope to god I got that skirt revision correct), and general "feel"... these will be the practice pulls. The sexy ones will be thicker.

Ahh got ya J. So are you double skinning the skirt, i thought at one point we, or more so Allan lol, got to seeing two forms layed over to make the skirt, maybe to make it stronger?
Ya know, it would be a hoot ib itseld just to knock up that cockpit module, hmm, or maybe, then cast it?

True J, could have wayyy more info/ref on her. That said, just look at what info you DO have now, enough to make this pretty much definitive with your nimble fingers.
Its funny, but out of all the mind bending sub assemblies in her, its the wings, building those would be an awesome job, so many layers, so many undercuts, ill stop there before i have an accident

Awesome pulls!! Just curious, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but did they actually used a street lamp for the ship construction or did some guy at ILM just said, "hey, it looks like a street lamp"?

No, it was labelled a streetlamp by the crew i think, Jamero modelled it on some kind of satellite dish, though it does also resemble an ESB period desklamp used in the modelshop, so who knows.

I picked Lorne Peterson's brain about this model like crazy when ever the opportunity presented itself, as you can well imagine. He was happy that someone was crazy enough to scratch one. Said something that made me groan: "yeah, we used some big Porsche... did you know that?"

Yeah. we knew that.

Then he said "you sure? It's big? Like... 1/18th or something"... charming. I wanted to scream "YOU USED SEALABS AND 1/8 ENTEX KITS AND AND..... DIAMONDS!!!! WHY!?!?" But just laughed and told him how expensive the kit was now. He was like "heh - sorry about your luck, guys!" Hehe.

He then said:

The original form components were hand carved from Jelutong, and survived kicking around the archives until relatively recently, when someone placed the pattern "near" a bunch of trash... and IT WAS THROWN OUT.

But there are whispers of a set of pulls in the hands of some lucky people. Who knows.
