    Aug 2, 2011 - Needa 'notha Shuttle - FINISHED! #1

Thought I'd stop squatting in Gene's thread, and show my take on the shuttle, now finished! Currently awaiting a root canal on Thursday, and experiencing a low-level Vicodin haze that helps me ignore tooth #30's ruckus (such an active little fella these past few days, oof!).

Hope I like my final kitbashing when I'm more myself!

All I have to do is paint 'er up, which I will do once I'm more ... lucid.

Wings, canopy, and top "lid" are loose for ease of painting at the moment.

    Lovely space hearse!

Just don't speak to me of root canals. I had to go in twice for the same tooth recently because of "tricky roots." Both times I was on Halcion and I'm pretty sure I did some model building once I got home; I just don't remember any of it.

Man that's cool. If that's not exactly how she looked, it ought to be.

Good luck with the root canal tomorrow.

    Great work, as always.

Awesome replica of what was basically a white blip on screen for two seconds.

You guys sure LOVE your obscure models!!! I thought the Probe droid pods were really obscure, but this beats that by a mile!

Your should make a model of a proton torpedo next!

Just wait! I'm working with an elite team of model nerds to get Chief Chirpa's trundle bed PERFECT in 1/7th scale.

Until that glorious day, work continues on the 43rd most important model from ESB:

Thanks! Almar - I just mixed some paint by eye.

Here it is on the wall... all I have left to do is add the LEDs and the darker grey accent color!

as you pull pack and shoot the wide pic (in your living room), i get a different spatial perspective. with the wing points pointing out, i've never realized how "open" the feel is -- kinda like having the sunroof down. you really can see lots more detail. v'v'very nice jason. weather'er up and lets see some money shots!

Good eye, Q.. I had to drastically shorten the space between the wing root and the chili dogs, as it looked too "open" with the center spar being as long as the TIE Bomber's. I'm also quite proud of the bracing between wing and body. I wanted to get a Bomber-like flow, but since the wings angle outward, you can't just extend what was used on the bomber.

yeah...i was noticing your wing mounts. you keep the spirit...nice truss-like open framing, along with some spikey-toothy elements.

will your LEDs be "typical" bomber array (engines only) or sumpin different also?

what catches my eye is the interior face of the wings. the wall is full of detail -- and oddly enough its not too much. like the add of the mini tanks inside the windows of the matilda panel. good form mr. eaton. good form.

btw, the first picture's even lighting led me to believe it was a CG picture. thats a credit to how clean the build is. however, i would add a wee bit of weathering...but thats just me.

wow, Jason, I am really amazed by this work, specially since it doesn't appear for more than a second in the movie.
It is really nice to be able to enjoy all of the SW models, in particular the rare ones such as this.
    regards from Chile!
