image.jpgI am trying to do a detailed build of the pit areas , as I'm building the ANH version I have a question over a missing part , it should have sat over the hatch on the jagdpanther section, I have only ever seen this in the chronicles book , out of focus , and on a resin kit someone supplied here, is anyone aware of the part?

Hey, that looks all the world like a 'tow ring' component from a tank kit. On German WWII tanks, anyway, a pair would often be incorporated in the vertical hull plates or attached to them, with the small 'holed' part projecting forward for a hook to grab into and then to the tow cable loop... so probably a tank kit.

Hope this is a small help...

Sorry, I thought the part included the object below it and to the side, but upon closer look I see it is just the trapezoidal shape with the hole. Puma turret floor perhaps? Nope, too small really. Model ship platform? Gun mantlet component?

Thanks Robert , I've been scanning a lot of sprue images for kits identified as have being used and others that were not, initially I thought it might be the machine gun mount on armoured vehicles but the shape seems wrong, then when viewing sprues the centre assembly for field guns look close if one leg was cut off, but I think this kit may be from an F1 kit that supplies a lot of parts, my birthday is coming up and I hope to acquire this kit so I may be able to confirm if the part I saw on the sprue shots is the right one, I'll let everyone know what I find .
the other item from these maps I think needs correcting is the m23 piece glued across the port side of the front mandible , I believe this to be the piece in front of the upper turret just in front of the guns and when the gun was damaged someone stuck it on the port side as it looks similar to a part on the starboard side. I'll post images later to explain.

The missing part on top of the Jagdpanther hull in the upper, rear starboard pit is I believe Ferrari 312b, so yes, its F1 related.
If like me you're building an original ANH Falcon with all the missing bits added, then you'll need 2 of the M23 part. Gun turret one is as is...I think...from memory & the mandible sidewall part was cut down.

Thanks Stu,
I thought I replied earlier but it didn't publish.
thanks for that confirmation, I though I saw it in the mclaren but I'll confirm when I get it .

As for the other part , it's painted the same colour as the upper and lower hull and also has a distinctive decal on it which would lead me to think it's definitely from the top turret in front of the gun . And that it snapped off when the gun was damaged.
well have to see....

Decal? Someone say 'decal'? Could it be something missing from the decal survey 'tracker'?

If you can expound on your decal reference in the last post, VFH, I'd appreciate it.

Cheers! Robert

Does anyone have a vintage 1/24 scale airfix hurricane, could you share a scan of the lower wing at its root as used on the rear Mandela deck of the falcon , I'm trying to understand the difference in tooling used between the current red box version and the vintage White box airfix version.

ill get back to you on the part broken from the turret

Sorry, I didn't get off until 10 last night, so I'll have to get you those pictures tonight.
No problem , no rush I've learned 5 foot building is slow .......I started fast , stash is building but as I review resources and you begin to notice kits missing from the lists you "Oh so that's why this takes so long ", and then you see the costs of the rare kits .......oh frack that's why this costs so much .....so my mindfulness training is being used to its max at the moment.......but this is somewhat about the destination .....but mostly the journey, and enjoying the research .

Thanks swgeek , do you know what year this kit is from , thanks for posting appreciate it
It looks like the tooling hasn't changed to the red box airfix Verizon
