Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

Hey!! I was directed here....so I also went ahead and ordered my first packages....guess I'm in the club!

Welcome to the Falcon Owner's club my friend! I'm sure when the parts come and you open that box, you'll feel like the rest of did and do the little happy dance, or paraphrasing Mike Myer's on the SNL skit of Sprockets "You'll feel like a little girl!" LOL

Think how the poor bastards feel waiting for an aliens APC for 5 years!

!!!!! There is absolutely no way I would wait that long. Not even a year. Especially if asked upfront for payment. If someone is selling multiple garage kits they've made it should already be made and ready to post. None of this 'pay now and I'll cast it up'. That's like walking into KFC and asking for a family bucket and after payment your told that they've run out of chicken but when you ask for your money back they say no haha

I found about the Deagostini Falcon over at Rebelscum a couple of weeks ago. I took my time and read through their long thread before I started posting in it. Their thread had a link to this discussion so I did the same here. It's taken me a few days to get through the whole thing but I didn't want to start contributing until I'd read the whole thing.

Both of these threads date back to early last year and it's been an interesting read. I've learned a great deal about this model and the Falcon in general. Over at Rebelscum posters like LrdSatyr8 helped convince me to take the plunge. It took a few days for me to get approval from the wife, but she finally approved/surrendered. :cool

I ordered this weekend and got my shipping confirmation email this morning! I haven't worked on a model in years. I'm a long time SW Hasbro collector but I have a handful of replica props. The MR Falcon was always a dream purchase, but just way too expensive for me. This model and the installment plan are perfect for me. It's not cheap, but it's manageable. I also think the lengthy build will help novices like me to learn as we go.

I have to say, I'm really looking forward to sharing this experience with the posters here and at Rebelscum. I've even joined a couple of the Facebook groups for this project. Some of the work I've seen you guys do is simply amazing. I can't wait to start posting pics as my shipments come in and learning some painting and weathering techniques from the pros here.

I just got my first four issues today! Very excited!

Everything was double-boxed and very well packed.

And no duty charges!

Even though I haven't opened the blister packs yet the parts look very crisp.

When I commissioned the ANH & ESB Han and Chewie pilot figures to fit into the seats of the Master Replicas model, the scale of the figures worked out to be 1/38. Anything else was either too small or too big to fit in the cockpit seats.

I've read that pilot figures will be included with this kit from DeAgostini. I'll be interested to see what they turn out like compared to the ones from my limited run.

Mornin' folks - Well it is for me anyway :) -- I have a question regarding the scale of this ship - I know the obvious answer is 1:1 -- But I have seen SS TIE's and X-Wings stated as 1/24 - So what would the scale of the 32" MF be in this measure? - TIA - Dave.

Welcome to the fold my friend... its been a very long time since a model has gotten so much buzz that it's joined so many different people together! Tis a beautiful thing!

I know we have a long way to go but hoping to start to gather the supplies I need for this build. I am hoping some people can give there recommendations for what paint special tools brushes esc you are going to use and will help us newcomers to build and repaint a screen accurate falcon well as long as our skill ables of course;). Just a quick pic of the turret window I was able to get out to reposition

There are some 'build the millienium falcon' groups on Facebook, with lots of tips on paints and weathering techniques, might be worth checking those out. A lot of people are using tamiya weathering kits

Got tired of trying to track down my "lost" order from March 6th. Another call to customer support and they still wanted to start the investigation process over again. I had a verification email of order placed but then they had nothing in their system. No attempt to charge my credit card either so I just went ahead and placed another order online. Just received my notification of order being processed and see that my card has been charged under the new order. Finally. Should be shipping out Monday! What a process!

Got my first 4 issues, even though I had it sent to a post office box and they ship UPS, can't find a way to update my shipping address on their website,
hope to get through on the phone today, what a pain..... But, the parts look great and I can't wait to start this build.....

About the billing method, email I just received:
Dear Oscar

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

We apologize for the late response to your email, the way the subscription works is we automatically bill your card every 30 days, you are not required to phone in. The website order tracking system should only allow you to see what subscriptions you are currently signed up for but not the individual shipments themselves. We apologize for any inconveniences this causes.
If you have any other questions, or if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

Regards,

Colton S.

With all these order mistakes (I am getting a third set of the first four issues after telling them when I ordered my second Falcon not to send the first four as they had already sent me a second set of 1-4 for some reason) I am wondering if they are just overwhelmed by the popularity of this??? I doubt any of their other models have gotten this kind of attention.

I am happy to cut them slack as long as they get it straightened out. I understand the legistics of something like this. There are gonna be bumps in the road but man what an incredible piece this will be.

I may be the only one, but we should start a petition now to get them to do a Serenity. Maybe by the time the Falcon is done, that one would be ready to start.:D:thumbsup
