Buck Rogers' Ranger 3

Just finished my studio scale Ranger 3 shuttle from Buck Rogers. I light the cockpit and wing tips. I took a bit of artistic license with the weathering. This is built from the shuttle kit that Timeslip Creations makes. I hope you all enjoy it.

Re: Buck Rogers' Ranger 3

Thanks all. It was a fun project.

The thing is I hate doing lights. This was a rare build with lights. And now I remembered why I hate lights, one of the wing tips burned out. ARGH!

No problem, running lights tend to fail after "freak mishaps".
Great work!

Re: Buck Rogers' Ranger 3

On the original they left the cockpit glass off the model for the beauty pass. After they had finished filming the beauty pass and matte pass, they did a separate pass with a piece of slide cover glass in the cockpit window so they could get a little glint as the shuttle rolled to camera. It had to be comp'd in separately in optical.

Trivia.

Re: Buck Rogers' Ranger 3

I regret not having the budget to get one of these at Wonderfest last year, as such I'll have to make do with the Fantastic Plastic version in 1/48 (assuming I can work up the nerve to chisel out the solid resin from the cockpit to stick an interior in). I REALLY like what you did with this one! Very nice work! Makes me want to do mine up as the 500 year old dirty version as opposed to the clean one.

Is that a 1/24 Revell Gemini astronaut I see in the cockpit?

Re: Buck Rogers' Ranger 3

thanks for the compliments JM. You can never weather it enough for 500 years old!
I'll have more kits at WF this year. Stop by the table and say "hi". Also, it will be on display at this years WF studio scale exhibit.
